My father-in-law and I both have the new jump/breaks by Gulyassy. By odd coincidence we both managed to crack the ferrules on both of them in the same week. I sent both to Mike, and he turned them around in a week good as new. I paid only for shipping!

The peace of mind with an investment into these great cues is priceless. Can't say enough about the amazing customer service and quality from Mike, not to mention then outstanding performance of those new j/b cues he is selling.. worth every penny!

Glad you had a good experience. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a cue from him, but like many others, feel somewhat burned with his Sledgehammer break cues that were coming from China. I've had two cues warp way beyond way even a bar player would consider playable, and finally had to pay $70 for a custom shaft and pin installed on my Chinese handle.

Cue rolls great, breaks great, and is a nice conversation piece. I just don't understand why I had to pay additional cash to get my issue corrected.

Samsara's making mike's break cues, seems I remember speaking with someone at the samsara booth at hokins show! what was the ferrule material phenolic or canvas/ mike is makeing the high end stuff. not cost efficient for the break/jump check out a martinez break jump-the real deal. mark hope I have it all correct mike- ivory ferrule morri tip

The Gulyassy j/b is a wonderful thing.. I'm a Samsara fan so I originally bought it just because they made the butts.. however it didn't take long to fall for this cue. My father-in-law (a far superior player to myself) used it only a few racks before he wanted one of his own. The power transfer on the break feels sweet, and while I suck at jumping my f-i-l says it's the best ~legal~ jumper he's tried. I don't know what the ferrule is made of.. it looks like it's one piece though. I have to really stumble to miscue with this thing, and the figure in the curly is very, very nice.

It's this one: http://www.babysproshop.com/images/Curly_maple_breakers_sharpened_1024.jpg

I was fortunate enough to buy it long before the price went up.. Joe Rackem gave me an excellent deal.

I am in the same boat. His 'warranty', which I did check before contacting him, was not honored for my cue either.

Guess I can understand a small business not wanting to invest $ in making up for errors, but there are longer-term consequences for failing customers, also for pleasing them.

I still think the Sledgehammer is the best j/b out there, performance and $ wise.:o

I've never tried one, but I saw one the other day and it was quite aesthetically pleasing.. definitely gets your attention! That sucks you guys had warranty problems with it though :(

Love my Gulyassy/Samsara. How the heck did you both manage to crack a phenolic tip??? Yikes! That must be some monster break that runs in the family. Glad to hear Mike was on top of the warranty issue though. That really says a lot for a cuemaker who takes care of customers fast.

It was funny.. he broke his first, so I was going to give him mine until his got fixed.. I washed off the tip of mine to avoid chalking everything on the way and discovered the smaller crack in my tip.. Got them back as good as new though, Mike rocks. I'm thinking I'll just buy another shaft for when the next one needs to be sent off heh.

Hope you read the whole thread...

Hope you read the whole thread...

Did you?

I'm just saying this thread started with one post.It was followed by a few others that were polite enough, but to the contrary of the intial post in a large way.Your experience included.

When you read the whole thread,do you excuse post number one because it doesn't fit your experience?...you could read it as evidence of change considering that same experience.

I have no dog in this fight and have never owned his cues....good or bad.

Edited to add:
Good by good golly damn this joint is picking up a negative tone and gaining speed.Nothin personal about the quote bro, just offering mho.Its in the perspective I'd guess as I'm removed from both experiences.

Yeah.. I'm guessing there were more than a few negative posts about whatever warranty issue they are referring to. I wanted to post a positive experience I had, not create a pedestal for all to rehash their gripe. I do think it sucks they had that happen to them though, so I don't really feel like my thread was inappropriately hijacked.

Mike sold the Sledgehammer name & product to McDermott. I suggest all people that claim to have an issue with the Sledgehammer cue to contact McDermott.
