I can't believe how many posts there have been in this thread that have nothing to do with the posters original comment. It seems to me that the discussion was meant to be whether or not pros hid there secrets, not about aiming systems, or what made you a good player.

I don't know any pros, so I can't really comment, but it would not surprise me at all if they did keep certain things secret.

Its amazing what reading comprehension does for a human being right?

I think you are missing the whole point of this thread. Do I believe that the pros do keep secrets? YES! Do I, or anyone else of reasonable mind think that if they just knew those secrets, they could be a pro too? NO! Only the very inexperienced would think that having knowledge equates to having a good game. Knowledge can certainly shorten the learning curve, but one still has to put time in on the table. I really don't think there is any question about that at all.

I got the point of the thread, I just truly believe that there are no "secrets" - simply things people haven't put the time into learning. That's why I brought up Shane's break - it mystifies many, and if he wrote a book on it, it would sell like nobodies business. But is it really that mystical, or is it just that he's put the time and practice in that others have not. That, no book is going to teach.

Which brings me to my next point - the only reason pros are at that highest level of play is simply due to consistency. We all have those days where we're in that "zone" and are in dead punch, running out with ease, never missing a ball or position. Why? Not many of us know these "secrets" that the pros are apparently withholding from the general public.. Did we discover these secrets for that short period of time and play at that highest gear, and then forget them immediately after and start playing a normal level again? No, most just aren't as talented and don't truly practice as much as most pros - and therefore are less consistent. They can consistently play at that highest level we can only reach for short periods at a time. No secrets. Consistency.

pros give tips if you listen pay for lessons and ask about how to?

Learning pool is like picking lint off of your overcoat a piece here a piece there!Information is acquired and accumulated this way for example edge to edge on close aiming is this a secret or a tip?
Easier Position play back and forth hit the rail instead of trying to slow roll a shot for position
These little tidbits were giving up by pros!
Keep your eyes always on object ball when moving around the table watch videos watch pros play, play with better players ask questions buy a pro lunch etc etc etc!\

As far as that aiming system or anything else I learn from pros...sorry I have NO idea what you are talking about. I'm just a banger

I knew this fella that was a banger at pool for about five years, and then one day everything fell into place for him, he became a very good player, I don't know what turned the switch on for him, alittle of this and a little of that,...lol..... everything you learn from every person plays it's part!:smile:

you cant train in what God left out. All the words in the world will never, ever take a person with little talent and turn them into a solid player. Never.





Sure knowlege is power and can make the best of a person, but some people have more potential than others no matter what they know. I'm living proof. If you cant execute but you know everything about the shot-it just aint gonna happen. You must be able to execute, period.



Now if you have a talented dummy that cant play, then knowlege will take that person much farther than a no talented person.

Pistol pat I don't use any aiming or other methods to shoot pool. So bring your secret knowledge that the pro gave you lol. secret knowledge thats funny you shoot everyshot a million times thats the secret. Thats what I have done over the years and it works pretty well. I'm not a pro are a road player just a smuck with a pool table so bring some dollars and lets see how your secrets work lol. Anytime..
