Pros - Watching Film?

Do you you think the pro players all watch every recorded match to analyze and learn like NFL teams do after every game?

My other half never does unless it's somebody he personally knows and/or he's asked to. Me, on the other hand, I watch a lot of pool on video and on live streams. I know more of the players today than my other half does.

I agree with rarely if ever. They play/practice but spend basically zero time watching video.

I doubt many pros watch much video at all. It's just way different than NFL where you are studying an opponent and preparing for what they may do. In pool, the table is your real opponent. It's not like it is some matchup of intermediate players where you can learn that the guy you're playing struggles with certain types of shots....all the players they play are excellent with no holes to exploit. So no advantage to studying film.

Some guys will use video to check on their technique, sure, but that's once in a while if ever. I'm sure many....especially with how many funky and not so straight strokes you see at the pro level...subscribe to the motto "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I think pros might watch a live stream of the TV table to see how the table is breaking. I was talking with Fedor at a Predator event last year and he made mention that he saw me sitting at the stream table a match or two previous to him coming down. He was on the stream table that evening. So my guess is Fedor was watching the stream table for that reason.

Aside from that, its hard to "game plan" for an opponent like it is in Football or Baseball. I can see pros looking back at a match they played where they lost to see if they could have done something different.

Someone to watch film for them. smart.
Well the experience knowledge is available. A person can get it from the Hard Knocks route. There are short cuts or tricks to make the journey shorter. And much more enjoyable. The knowledge is out there. Sometimes older is wiser. Sometimes it's Just older. 🤷‍♂️ We all gotta figure it out.....what path to take is up to the individual.
Video is a viable tool that can be employed by All. What with the tool in every phone. 🤷‍♂️ Videos of self can simulate stage fright. Shrug 🤷‍♂️ at least a begining.
