this is a little segment i dedicate to pros who have, or had major talent, but never really came thru somehow. robin dodson. a female who had fantastic shotmaking ability, yet who had no self confidence, she could have been something. cowboy jimmy moore, perhaps the best rythmic slip stroke player ever! to watch him was to watch where oliver ortmann and jim rempe get their cool rythme from, the cowboy inspired the words from the hustler, "look at him move, like a dancer" jimmy moore never won a tournament, but came in second around a hundred times! jon kucharo, here's a milatary looking kid, who debueted on espn a few years back breaking and running like it was going out of style!!!!!!!! and then puff! up in smoke, no one hears from him, he doesn't call, where are you? mark jarvis, back in the days when mike sigel ruled, mark jarvis, was one of these shotmaking masters, like corey dueuel, but better! whatever happened to him? god only knows. niki benish, niki had brains, she always made the right choices, she was great! i was told she recently came back, but i guess her playing went down? she could have been in the top 5 but cuetec through her off, lack of money and disheartned, she quit. niels feiljin, although we hear of him, this cat deserves bigger and more reconition, great fundementals, he rocks, and by the way holds the record for 15 racks of 9-ball! steve davis, although in the u.k. he is a little bigger than king kong, in 9-ball, this poor bloke has not gotton his due! he's as good as all of e'm. if he practiced for one month 7 days a week 8 hours a day, he'd destroy anyone in his path. nick van den berg, a brilliant, little player, who could rule the 9-ball world, yet, not many mention him, why? ching shun yang, held back because of sitting and staying in tawian, if he traveled like souquet, the world of 9-ball would crumble. well, that's my pick of players, who have it, yet, never kept it. good day. p.s. the players who proved to the world they are the greatest that ever lived are three players. willie mosconi, from 1940-1957 mosconi was "the greatest pool player ever" winning more straight pool tournaments than anyone in history, and by bigger margins, to this day, no one can hold a match to his straight pool playing, and by the way, here is something most people do not know about willie, he ran in the 500's often!!! one time in practice before a tournament, he ran 599!!!!!!! charles ursetti his personal mgr. racked the balls!!! next, efren reyes, efren has proven many things, first, he doesn't "back down" when the chips are down, not another sole in history can "finish the job" like efren, he is the greatest closer of all time period! when the heat is on and there are only 4 balls on the table, efren holds the record for never losing at that point! his versatility is ledgendary, mike kang one of the best billiard players in the u.s. told me efren is one of the best straight rail players in the world!!!! think about that! his one pocket, 8-ball and rotation are the best. from 1984-2003 efren has held the world in his hands, although i see him slipping very fast, the last twenty years proves he was the best. and finally, allison fisher, from 1983-2003 allison fisher dominated cuesports like no other female! winning more tournaments than any human being, earl strickland was quoted as saying "allison can beat me and beat me bad" for the pearl to make that statement, that's huge! allison is a champion in snooker straight pool and 9-ball. when she was at her best 1998-1999 there wasn't a soul, male or female who could beat her. so there i solute those 3 pocket billiard players for being the champions of all time, willie, efren and allison proved they were #1, here's to them and the future of #1's.

Excuse me, but I believe Robin Dodson:earlier known as Robin Bell was 2 time
WPA WORLD CHAMPION and I know of at least 1 time mixed doubles world
champion with Danny D as her partner. Maybe the fact that she had to raise 3 or 4 kids might had small reason in interrupting her playing career!!!!!!

From what article did Earl's "Quote" come from?

Which ever it was... is TOTAL BULL _HIT!! Earl on his WORST day, would NEVER say she could beat him. Even IF she could!! You got to be CRAZY to believe that story, to start with. She could get the 6 from Earl, and NOT like it.

One of these days Bernie, those guys with the white coats are gonna' CATCH you. Good thing I don't know where you live, or I'd turn you IN. I think your DANGEROUS..........

I think it is just a matter of time before Ching-Shun Yang steps up and starts taking off some major tournaments. I would bet even money that he wins a World Championship sometime in the next 5 years.

This is the big boppers take on this. Don't do that, they they will lock him up and we tax payers will have to pay to house and feed him. Let him run amuck, every board needs a village idiot. Every thing he says, just do the opposite and you are right 100% of the time. The guy has never got the first thing right so far. He is either doing this on purpose or he is the dumbest person in pool. Nobody can possibly be that dumb, so it has to be on purpose just to aggravate us, that has to be the game.

You know, 'Burnte' everytime you open your mouth it shows how stupid you are. Your the laughing stock of the forum. How's it feel? Earl HATES B.D., and unless something changed he wouldn't have given the interview to start with. I DON'T believe for ONE second, Earl said Allison could beat him, and BAD too. And if you think that.....That's why your the IDIOT, and the LAUGHING stock of the Forum. Plain and simple.....

Stephen, I like your confidence. Let me tell you a big
pitfall in the near futire. Girls! They've been the ruin of
many a young player. I could've been a contender if
only those doggone girls hadn't distracted me. Good
luck to you, my man.

Niels Feijen has one of the smoothest strokes in the game today, he plays several games very well, he has won the European straight pool championship the last two years and is a former Dutch 8ball champ, and running 15 consecutive racks of 9ball  A future World Champion IMO.

Hey hondo, Well how do girls get in the way? Right know I have a girlfriend but she is behind me 100% of the way playing pool every chance I get and practing all weekend. Can you explain alittle? I just dont want this to effect my game. Thanks alot. Also if you dont want to post it you can E-Mail me at Alexb00@aol.com

No big secret here. It's just that some guys
become obsessed with their girl( or girls) &
it can be a distraction. Also, some girlfriends
tend to compete with pool for their guy's
time. Sounds like your girlfriend is supportive.

Now that I think about it.... Ghost is probably right.
Just kidding-stay in school, son.

some comments

I can only comment on the two Dutch players mentioned in the original text as I've seen them play...and see them play quite regularily here.
Both Niels Feijen and Nick vd Berg are both relatively 'new' to the game being quite young of age still. Niels being 27 and and Nick being 24 I think it's rather too early to say "...pros who have, or had major talent, but never really came thru somehow."
I say these people are only breaking into the very top and can get only better..... As far as these two players go....was I gambling type...I'd put money on either or even both of them to become WC sometime in future....knowing that they both still have MANY years of pool coming.

Just my €0.02

Cheers,
Kimmo
