I'm sorry we had to leave for Chicago and were unable to sweat your match against Allison. I know you put everything into it and played your heart out.
I hope to see you again soon.
Love ya!

Yes she did. It is, however, difficult playing someone like Allison who makes almost no mistakes.

Sarah lost 9-5. She scratched twice on the break. I think both cue balls were both kicked in by other stray balls that had Alison-Fisher-voodoo guiding them.

IIRC Allison ran out both those racks, so it could easily have been 7-7 after 14 games if not for the scratches.

I think that was the only time in the tourney that Sarah scratched on the break.

Actually that may have been the first time I have ever seen Sarah scratch on the break.

Like I said, it's voodoo.

Thanks ruk and wally. You guys are great friends and fans. Thanks for rooting me on through the good and bad.

ruk...I played well against Allison. She missed a 7 when it was 1-0 and left me a tough shot. I should have played safe, but I went for it. Then at 2-1 I broke well and was running out and missed the 4. The two times I broke and scratched I stopped the cueball perfectly and got kicked in by another ball. Once in the side and once in the corner. Another time I made 4 or 5 balls on the break and didn't get a shot and lost the safety battle. The second time I scratched on the break it was 8-5.

All in all, I felt pretty good about the way I played this week. I think it is a step in the right direction.

Thanks again,
Sarah

The true key and secret to Sarah's success of making it to the top 16 was the presence of luck in the room, that only appears in Peoria. *ahem* Helloooo. Me.

Or not. But I'm sure half of the entire crowd routing for you from day one doesn't hurt!

Sarah,

Great to hear of your top-16 finish at the tourney. It sounds like the rolls just "went the other way" for you with the scratches on the break. As I tell people, especially in a short race, the rolls go one way or the other. It's much easier to win if they are rolling your way and not against you. Knowing you and your personality, I'm sure you'll use this as a learning tool....another step to the top. Keep up the good work. Hope to see you at the DCC in Louisville again this year.

You are exhibiting a lot of confidence in your play, something that you lost a while back. The difference is striking, night and day. Keep it up my "Mighty Mouse". Hang in there because greatness is within your grasp. I really truly believe that!

HEY, there is nothing wrong with being a fan of Allison Fisher. Yet, No I did not cheer her on. I think enough people do that already. You can ask Sarah how I was, punk!

Sarah, you played some great pool this week. I'm so proud to know you and and watch you play. It was very good to see you again. Congratulations on a good tournament.

Wally, it was good to meet you. Thanks for the tips and the company. I'm sure I'll see you again.

Now for a quick story. There has been some talk on these forums lately about what exactly is a player's responsibility when (s)he commits a foul at the table that the opponent doesn't see. I'm pleased but not surprised to be able to report that Sarah Rousey meets the highest standard in this regard. Against Vicki Paski on the one loss side, Sarah had ball in hand and chose a 4-9 combination to win the game. She made it, but hit the cueball again on her follow through. She immediately told Vicki that she had fouled and handed her the cueball. I was sitting as close as anyone and watching very carefully and I didn't see it. I don't think even a referee would have seen it. Sarah was totally in the clear and didn't hesitate at all to claim this foul. Right on to you, Sarah.

Thanks ragbug, Denny, cheesethe9, Richard, and cdavis. I appreciate the support.

Longhair, thanks for taking a front row seat to the comeback match and never giving up on me. You guys are great for braving the front row seat for the next match. :) It was good to see you again.

ruk, you are right, I have been very frustrated for the past 6 months or so with my game. I did lose alot of confidence in myself. I am glad to say that I felt like my old self again this past week.

Dea, thanks for choosing me over Allison. It's much more stressful and exciting to root for me...that makes it so worth it.

vagabond, I'm going for the win, but I'm glad to know that you are proud regardless. We missed you there this week. Same with you Landshark.

Long-man,
I was not aware of this. As in golf, a true sportsman (??sportswoman/sportsperson??) will adhere to the rules, whether anyone is observing or not. Just a further example of why Sarah is to be admired. There is at least one prominent WPBA player that could take a lesson from Sarah in this regard.

If the sport is truly to develop wide public acceptance, it will need to be perceived as a game of honor (at least in the tournaments, probably never in the pool halls); this is an excellent first step.

In my opinion, I think most players will own up to a foul. I know there are some that won't. It is kind of like baseball, if you are tagged but the ump calls you safe, are you going to argue? It is up to the person. I thought that my foul was obvious (it definitely felt obvious to me) but apparently it wasn't. It is just a personal choice. Maybe we need instant replay?? Just kidding.

Sarah

HEY, maybe then there'd be more than 1/2 of a picture of you with your eyes open!
(:

And your welcome, it wasn't a hard choice. I know what you are capable of, so why not make it known to everyone within 50 feet of me in the arena?

Top 16? A lot sooner than later she'll be insulted by finishing anything less than top 10
