I saw this ebay auction close today. :rolleyes:

What are these bidders smoking.:eek: Look there were a few crazys. That is a full decal cue even the red part. Its what I call a shrink wrap cue. It is not the sellers fault they did not claim any value or collectiblity (none). I just don't understand.:confused: For that kind of money I can sell them a much nicer true inlay cue.
 
people continue to buy off ebay like it's the ONLY legit place to buy things..it is unreal..

I don't know how this Ebay bidding system works, so will someone please explain to me why this guy, jimmymcquillin, raised his OWN bid not once, but four times without anyone else posting another bid????

They were still under "wheelerenterprise"'s bid on all of those bids.

Look at the date and time stamp.

Okay, I see it. I had started reading the bids from the bottom up and didn't notice that there was a Feb. 18th bid in between two Feb. 19 bids.
Thanks for clearing that up.

That's "fishy." Looks like a conspiracy. The only time you should see something like that is when EBay removed an intermitent bid for lack of funds.

The bidding ended at $113+$11 shipping. The cue and case looks like something you would normally have to pay more than that for.

Is it a Palmer (I assume it is) and is Palmer now making decal cues (I hope they're not)?
 
Bob, the "Palmer" brand out of Asia doesn't have anything to do with the Palmer Cue Company of 60's fame. The import Palmers are made with decals, some with inlays.

I don't know about that. Sometimes people just like the thrill of the auction. I sent my dad some decal cues years ago for some charity thing he was doing. $80 retail on each.

He sold them on Ebay. Just put up a listing which said. "here is a pool, cue, that's all I know".

Both cues went for nearly $300 apiece! Not to collectors eithers. Both auctions got feedback from the buyers praising the quality and the feel.

Ebay is one of those marketplaces that people can feel more comfortable in. If they don't like the pitch, don't like the feedback, or the product they just move on to a hundred other sellers within the same platform. They get a variety of flavors in products and selling techniques. Ebay gives buyers and sellers who click a chance to meet. It's Match.com for commerce. :-)

And like Match it's fickle. Sometimes there are a lot of buyers and sometimes there aren't. Sometimes all the sellers lined up look like prettied up shysters, and some look like naive farmboys.

That's ebay. Sometimes you hit the jackpot most times you don't.

John I would say that the other way Palmer does some decal cues. Most of what they sell is Inlay.
The cue in question was made in like 98 it is no longer made. There was a blue and brown as well as the red. They were shrink wraped full decal cues. I use to sell 3 0f them for that. This is not the first time I have seen one fetch over $100. It amazes me and you definately can't fault the seller on this one. Early import collectibles.:eek: :eek:

There's probably nothing fishy going on. Instead of entering the max he was willing to pay right away, the guy kept raising it and none were above the max bid already in.

Although this one is real inlay and was actually a very nice cue in it's day, about 10 years ago. It is not a vintage Palmer. ;) It's in really rough shape.:( Brand new it retailed for like $175. Like it looks now maybe worth $50.:eek:
I hope none of my AZ friends are bidding. It looks like it might get out of hand:rolleyes: :confused:

Does any body know the guy that ended up winning or should I say losing out on this one. Look at the pics. 5 different people bid over $200 for that thing.:confused:
