Put Earl Strickland on Team USA in 2017 Mosconi Cup

Very apt though considering his tantrums wouldn't you say? You are trying to defend the indefensible, he was a great player in his day, and a world class tool then and now.

What is a bird break by the way? In Scotland a bird could be a woman, you saying he used a woman's break??

Today the bird break is outlawed in the pool world.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Europeans are just as much a fool as you think Earl is with their antics.

USA, all the way!

You Europeans can't handle the truth.

well, thats funny coming from a delusional american lol but which truth? that we are wiping the floor with your guys for a decade now and that you guys need the a mid 50 yr old (heard hes a great teambuilder lol) to turn it around now? yeah thats the way for the future...... gl with that thinking, on the other hand good for us, the cup stays home for another while!
anyways, i would be more than surprised when rujsink picks him, johan likes TEAMS
#MAPGA (make american pool great again)

You know very well I am European Jam :grin::grin: As for the truth it is USA who could use a reality check, Europe is kicking your a22 for quite some time both in MC and Atlantic Cup where Euro youth really dominates their US counterpart to the point where it is a joke basically. You have no organization which could unify pool in USA to create a tour or bring some unified instructor system to your kids (BCA has failed big time). Yes, you have some really strong players but Europe has maybe 5 times more young talent than you do, thats the reason why we can build better team than you, it is simply about number of players to choose from and competition between them. As for Earl - let his wins do the talk, it is some time since he won anything significant..

I strongly disagree. Europe has more opportunities to play pool than their American counterparts as far as publicized events. We have no professional organization. The BCA dropped professional pool like an orphan, leaving it out to die, and the WPA is the Scrooge of the world. What have they done for American professional pool lately? Not a damn thing.

Truth be hold, American has many strong players that would kick European butts, but they aren't given the same opportunities as the Europeans in international events.

Earl is winning. Earl is a winner. Earl knows how to win. Put Earl in the Mosconi Cup for 2017. To not do so would be a European trying to advantage his fellow Europeans while being a team captain for Team USA.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

I can't even respond to something with the number "666" in their handle. Bad luck! Go away.

What is it??

And obviously it wasn't outlawed then, so he hardly cheated.

Anyway, Peach is a million miles from the current mosconi team :P

Watch the match on YouTube. Everybody was talking about it. Where were you? I was right there watching it live. Maybe you don't know as much about pocket billiards as you might like to think.

Go, Earl, go. Team USA, all the way, with Earl at the helm.

I am not sure with which part you disagree, we both agree that BCA fails to do its job. And we both agree that USA has some strong players that may be very competitive against euro pros. And we both agree that US players are giving up a huge handicap against euro pros by NOT competing on international stage, euro pros get their battle experience exactly that way which helps them big time during the heat of MC. And even if I hate Earls behavior I agree with you that Earl is a winner in his heart, the question is if he still can manage the heat at the very top level CONSISTENTLY - and this is where I disagree with you - I just dont think that Earl would be able to hold it all the way, also he is not very good for team spirit of US team from the past experience, maybe SVB can handle Earl but thats about it...

Wrong! The Young Guns love Earl. And Earl is stronger now than he's ever been. He's been working out and feels great. He's a winner, knows how to win. He needs to be on Team USA.

It's the old-school Team USA members who had a thing about Earl. Professional jealousy.

Well you may be right about that young players like Justin or Skyler like Earl, I dont know much about their interpersonal dynamics. And I guess Earl got fit again if you say so. But the question about his ability to consistently handle the heat at the very top level stands, he didnt do much recently to prove otherwise. If I am not mistaken US team members have to be chosen from TOP10 US ranking, not sure where Earl stands atm..

Matchroom Sport gave the European Team Captain for USA the option to have "wild card picks." Johann can pick Earl, and he should pick Earl.

Handle the heat? Earl has played in more high-profile events than any other American. He belongs on the Mosconi Cup because we deserve to have the best America has to offer. And that's Earl right now in 2017.

Yes, handle the heat. I know that Earl has lots of experience with high-profile events from the past but not much recently. The question is if he still has that mental endurance which is built by exposure to such high-pressure events. Once a player cease to compete in such events that ability to handle the pressure starts to fade with the time...
Only time will tell if Johann chooses Earl as a wild-card. I dont know much about Earls opinion on Johann as a coach, that may be crucial in the selection process. Johann requires obedience from his students as all US team members would have to accept the position of student because Johann will have to teach them to win again against euros - not sure if Earl is ready for such experience..

I think Earl would complement Johann's coaching of Team USA members. He would bring a lot to the table.

Earl is in competition right now, on the road traveling, competing in events. He's in better shape than he's ever been. He still is the best draw in any pool tournament he attends. Johann would be wise to pick him on the team. Earl gets along Shane very well, as does Sky. This is a good match.

Earl, Shane, and Sky. The remaining two, I'm still undecided. Earl needs to be on Team USA. Johann needs to be unbiased, not show the European bias, and choose Earl.

Totally agree. We need some fire to offset Shane's ice.

Now we're talking. Shane actually likes Earl. This team needs unison.

Other Team USAs in the past have been like each player goes his own way. some of them treated it like a vacation or a guaranteed payday.

Believe me, Earl wants to win with every ounce in his body, and he will fight to win. He won't be sightseeing and going to brothels or staying up all night gambling. He will prepare to play pool and get ready to rumble!

Go, Team USA, with Earl at the helm.

I cannot believe there are not 5 or 6 top pool players in America in 2017 better poised to win than Earl Strickland.

How about he earns his spot like everyone else by playing in the upcoming Mosconi Cup points events? Yes, the captain is allowed to pick wild cards, but Johan has stated that the wild card(s) he picks will still be from the top 10 points ranking system, which makes sense.

Knowing Johan's belief of discipline, strategy, and strict practice regimen, I'm sure Earl is the last player on his mind. Let's give the young guys a chance, all the old-timers had theirs and blew it.

Also, Shane is considered a veteran at this stage of the game so that whole "we need a veteran on the team" argument needs to go away.
