Put Earl Strickland on Team USA in 2017 Mosconi Cup

How about he earns his spot like everyone else by playing in the upcoming Mosconi Cup points events? Yes, the captain is allowed to pick wild cards, but Johan has stated that the wild card(s) he picks will still be from the top 10 points ranking system, which makes sense.

Knowing Johan's belief of discipline, strategy, and strict practice regimen, I'm sure Earl is the last player on his mind. Let's give the young guys a chance, all the old-timers had theirs and blew it.

Also, Shane is considered a veteran at this stage of the game so that whole "we need a veteran on the team" argument needs to go away.

Shane may be considered a veteran but he sits safely at n.1 spot of US ranking ;) On the other hand Earl is at n.16 having played only in 2 tournaments towards MC ranking, that doesnt show much dedication on Earls part to become US team member. To be honest I like the current TOP5 ranking quite a lot:
1) SVB
2) Dennis Hatch
3) Oskar Dominguez
4) Skyler Woodward
5) Rodney Morris

That's a great team, idk about Dennis Hatch though, he choked alot in his last appearance at the Cup. Then again, so did everyone else on the team. He seems to be in stroke right now though.

I like:

1. SVB
2. Justin Bergman
3. Skyler Woodward
4. Billy Thorpe
5. Oscar Dominguez/Josh Roberts

Are you European? Figures! You Europeans can't handle the truth. Earl will wipe the floor with all of those Team European members. He's in dead-punch stroke and in the best shape of his life. Come get you some, Euro!
LMAO Earl has showed his true ignorant american colors to many times.........Great player, donkey person . You got a real hate on for the Euro's , there must be a reason........lol.

Yeah, Dennis can choke https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC4ixmMCra8 :D But I like him, he is an entertaining guy and he has played a lot of tournaments recently so he may be ready for the heat of MC again

I think this year's mosconi cup will be very close.

Not because the US will throw in a better team than the last years, but because somehow I have the feeling that the Europeans won't be that strong.

If I look at the current rankings I just see Ouschan as a real threat to the Americans.
Joshua Filler is a strong player, but in my eyes there is the danger that he might crumble under the screams of the US fans and the TV lights.
Souquet is past his prime and not the type of player for shot clock events. (between, same goes for Earl)
Van den Berg has been playing better this year, but...I don't know...I don't believe he is that rock solid as he used to be.

And then...who do you throw in? Feijen, Shaw, Appleton, Alcaide, Mark Gray?
As the ranking looks right now, I wish Chamat would have four Wildcards...

Folks like you are inflammatory to the game. Makes it easy to form a "real hate," as you put it.

USA, all the way, Trophycue.

I love Marcus Chamat as team captain for Team Europe. He's epitomizes the spirit of what the Mosconi Cup is all about. Love Marcus!

It is OK for you to hate..... and of course you are not inflamatory......lmfao........no wonder americans are disliked worldwide.....

Because we're the world's number-one super power. Always will be, Euro!

Jam, you make your case for Earl in an intelligent way, you get a well thought reply and you bash it because he is European? Do you think this might make you look bad?

Always

Number one murders, arms dealers war mongers, keep talking like the sheep you are.......always is a long time.......don't think so.

Look, man, I've been told quite a few unfavorable things on this thread. I tried to present my thoughts in an intelligent way initially, but when you're dealing with anonymous trolls and those who have such a hatred for Americans and/or Earl, it's hard to be civil, though I tried.

Thanks for the reply.

Most people would say Earl has lost a gear or two or three. But, he would still be great for entertainment value alone in the Mosconi Cup, especially for team Europe fans.

Well you may be right about that young players like Justin or Skyler like Earl, I dont know much about their interpersonal dynamics. And I guess Earl got fit again if you say so. But the question about his ability to consistently handle the heat at the very top level stands, he didnt do much recently to prove otherwise. If I am not mistaken US team members have to be chosen from TOP10 US ranking, not sure where Earl stands atm..

Hmmm, he was a complete arsehole at the Hangelar Open 2 years ago, calling his 17 year old Dutch Opponent (Jan van Lierop) a f**king retard very audibly to the crowd several times during their match at the arena table. After the Dutch lad beat him, he refused his hand and instead put his fingers in his ears and walked off.

I hope he plays the Mosconi, cos the European fans will shark him to bits, and I would love to see that particular car crash.

JAM, I know you reside somewhere up Earl's ass, but being European is not a reason to think Earl is a dick, it's his behaviour that gives that away. I'm sure Johann knows that picking Earl is a recipe for disaster for his team.

Well, first, I don't know Earl, when I have seen him play I know his conduct and behavior
is basically without a social filter. I wish pool had more of him and that Tony Drago
character, these are a couple of guys that can draw a crowd.
As to his comment about
young Jan van Lierop, was he a retard? It's one thing to call him that, if it was a fair
and accurate assessment of this kid then thats another thing altogether.
... and your last comment for JAM, regardless of you personal opinion that up ass thing was a bit uncalled for. Don't be an Earl.

Again, the Team USA Captain has two wild card picks, which means he does *NOT* have to go by the points.

Earl has already put 100 percent of himself in any event he shoots in. Aside from his multiple championship titles, too numerous to name here, this BCA Hall of Famer can get there......

As much as I'd love to see Earl come out and beat up on the Euros, I'd have to ask:
I may be thinking of someone else, but Earl doesn't have the best win percentage in the
Mosconi Cup, does he?
I believe he's still among the best, but some guys just weren't cut out for team play
