Put Earl Strickland on Team USA in 2017 Mosconi Cup

I imagine he meant anything major.

Which he hasn't.

Because he's old.

So I guess if you want to just give Europe the trophy again, then sure, let Earl be on the team.

In and out of threads with flippant remarks.

Thank goodness, your opinion pales in comparison with those in authority.

Earl is currently playing at warp speed and rolling right over the young guns. Of course, you wouldn't know about that. You'd rather hang out here on a pool forum and be a knocker.

Whatever you say, Jim.

The way Earl has been playing lately i think he might have a realistic chance to have a high enough finish this week at The Don Coates event and next week at Turning Stone and earn enough points to make the top ten and be in consideration for the team.

After watching Earl play the last few weeks i think he's playing as good if not better than any of the Americans other than SVB.

The team captain must choose 4 players out of the top ten and one wildcard pick.

It will be interesting to see who this new captain picks it looks like the top 10 will have mix of young guns and old school veteran players.

car crash

Hmmm, he was a complete arsehole at the Hangelar Open 2 years ago, calling his 17 year old Dutch Opponent (Jan van Lierop) a f**king retard very audibly to the crowd several times during their match at the arena table. After the Dutch lad beat him, he refused his hand and instead put his fingers in his ears and walked off.

I hope he plays the Mosconi, cos the European fans will shark him to bits, and I would love to see that particular car crash.

JAM, I know you reside somewhere up Earl's ass, but being European is not a reason to think Earl is a dick, it's his behaviour that gives that away. I'm sure Johann knows that picking Earl is a recipe for disaster for his team.
Agreed........Johann is much to smart to go anywhere near the self destructing Earl........the only reason anyone goes near him, is to watch him go off . He has a very long record of treating young players in a very degrading way.............. ask Alex P. how Earl treated him when he came on the scene . Rude ignorant person.......how can this possibly be mistaken for colorful......lmao.

matchroom

Well, that settles it, then. The majority of European AzB-ers and unidentified trolls and banned members posting do not want Earl in the Mosconi Cup. Everybody else does.

I am going to prepare a written correspondence to Matchroom Sport with a cc Johann and Luke Riches in hopes that they will consider Earl Strickland for inclusion as a member of Team USA, and then I will detail the reasons why.

What I write on this forum is sometimes met with deaf ears, as some members only like to ridicule and cause hurt and/or anger on a forum, but when I express my thoughts in print for something I feel strongly about, I'm pretty good at that.

Carry on. You can resume whining and moaning about Zuglan's no-refund policy or the next flavor of the month. My work is done here.

Must be a hard job.....being so perfect as you, you have ridiculed and tried to hurt just as much as anyone else on this thread. Yet somehow your exempt yourself . I'm sure you can enlighten matchroom with your shallow minded thoughts..........Not !!!!

I have never ridiculed loved ones of members here, as you have, and I have never told anyone they have their head up somebody's butt.

But you can shove it where the sun don't shine at this juncture. You are nothing but an unidentified troll, as far as I'm concerned.

The bottom line is Earl simply is not good enough to play his way on the team and Iv seen nothing from Earl that indicates he has any leadership qualities either so I can't see any reason for him to be on the team other than if it's purely for the entertainment value

Well, at least you know how to present your view without getting personal. I can respect that. Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion shared in a healthy debate. :)

Well, these, of course......

I love it. :grin-square:

Has anybody noticed that a lot of men are growing full beards lately? I don't know if it's a trend right now or what, but a lot of men in D.C. have full beards.

Anyway, how about this?

Having The Pearl at the Mosconi Cup would be a bonus since I've got tickets this year... But history tells us that in the presence of a rowdy audience and high-pressure competition, the bad side of Earl surfaces... :-(

This is true. And Earl is getting old as well, another strike against him. I don't know of anyone in pocket billiards that has played at full speed into their mid-fifties like Phil the Power Taylor has in darts. And he's fading fast.

What about Klentì KaÇi, what is his FargoRate? He could play for Europe & I'd take him over Earl everytime.

There is a big difference between ridicule and fact.........why in the world would you call out other players for drinking and gambling ? but of course, no one is allowed to call out you or your loved ones.........absurd !!!

Yes, that is right. I don't think a player should engage in drinking, pay to get screwed by a prostitute(s), and gamble all night long while they're competing in the Mosconi Cup. I think the team should stay together as one unit and work together as a team throughout the event. After it's over, then they can feel free to do whatever they want.

Earl wouldn't drink, doesn't screw whores, and won't gamble in Vegas while in competition. Probably won't do so when competition is over either. :)

Now you're just taking all the fun out of it ;)

For as much as my opinion matters.....
Earl has long been one of the best, arguably the best (at times), and his game doesn't
seem to have suffered from time the way many players do, but still, Earl has never
been at his best in Mosconi Cup competition, and Earl can be such a polarizing dude
that if he is at his best and playing well, winning and having a good time it can lift a
team to new heights, but if he's not playing well his frustration can be infectious and
it can be a drain on the other team members. I remain unconvinced that Earl would be
an ideal member for this team. However I'd be willing to bet that JAM and her
spousal unit are far more experienced than I and certainly more qualified to
evaluate these players and how they may come together as a team. So, in spite of
my own reservations with regard to Earl as a member of Team USA, I'd have to defer
to JAM in this instance. Hope you're right

Shane hasn't showed up at recent Mosconi Cups either, but I feel it is because there was a strange or queer awkwardness between the team players on Team USA. There just did not seem to be a camaraderie that there should be, like Team Europe had where they play in unison. Our team seemed to show up and then each go their on way.

Shane does genuinely like Earl and Sky both. I think the three of them would be great together. Plus the fact that all three are hitting 'em strong right now.

Of course, everybody is entitled to their own thoughts and opinions, but I really feel strongly that Earl will barbecue Europe this year. There's no better American player who pulls for America to win each and every time than Earl. Anyone who has talked to him for just even a few minutes will know he's going to give it his all. He wants Team USA to win with all his being.

Earl plays amazingly; he is truly gifted. A little cursed too unfortunately. That tends to be par for the course with true savants. I think the problem arises when the switch flips: he has some give up in him, I've watched it in person and this is when it comes out. I wish there was a way to pull him back when it happens and as he gets older I worry about the harm it does him.

In a perfect world, Earl could be what turns it around. This world isn't perfect though. For Earl's own sake, he might be better off distanced from this. It's not a slight against him.
