Putting, New England, Back on the Map

Not that long ago New England, was the place to play. We had, one of the best, if not the best, tour in the country. Funny how things change.

This Friday night we are launching the second site for the New England Pool and Billiard Hall of Fame. Maybe this will help jumpstart a new interest, in the game, in the New England area.

Steve and Regina Goulding have built a beautiful facility and have done, (what else do you expect), a first class job getting their room ready for the ceremony.

Please come by and help us honor the game and a large contingency of the people and players that helped make New England the place to play in the middle 1980's into the early 1990's.

A two day $2500 added tournament will begin on Saturday and rap up on Sunday. The entry fee is $100.

Come and play or just come and watch. We need the support.

As I remember from back in the 90's, Steve and Regina were awesome hosts not only to the tour and top players but even to the small time b/c players like myself that donated to just play against best in New England. First rate tables, staff, food etc. No skimping at their room for sure.Check it out if you can,you won't be disappointed. If my (BAD)back is up for the ride I'll go myself,but doubtful. Can you get a list of players that are going to be there, and the results if I can't make it...thanks Jeff...

I just got back the room looks sensational. Come on by. For people that can't make it I'll make sure I post the results. Stevie Moore was there tonight along with Mike Deshaine. Ginky also called today and said he was coming. Looks like a talented field is going to show up.
 
First class event last night. They did a fabulous job in the Hall of Fame room. Hopefully someone that was smart enough (as opposed to a dope like me) to bring a camera will post photo's. Snookers is absolutely a beautiful room. Totally top notch. The drinks are priced right and the equipment is just great. I can personally recommend the 9Ball Nachos. I really want to thank Steve and Regina Goulding for what they have done. The wall plaques were classy. Tom did a superb job putting everything together. It was a lot of work all done as a volunteer. After the presentations I remember why we used to have a saying "never give a microphone to a pool player!". The families of Tallman; Ray Desell and Beau McGarret were the highlight of the night. Very sincere and well done.

I have to say the passion and appreciation for the game and the people that are associated with the game, of Tom McGonagle is evident. Tom really loves those things and it shows. Same can be said for Steve and Regina.

It was great to see so many of the old faces from what can be described now as the "Golden Days" of pool in NE (when was the last time you saw 90 players for a C tournament?). I wish my game was even one-half of what is was ten years ago so I could have played in today's event. But my wife told me I used up my weekly allocation of unsupervised fun.

Anyway- again- thanks Tom, Steve and Regina, and of course Ray DeSell, the real mover behind the hall. Ray was certainly missed last night.

It was really a first class event. The room was packed and folks seemed to have a good time. The wall treatment for each Hall of Fame player is excellent with matted photos and info for each.

It is great to see room owners and motivated individuals taking steps to preserve pool history and to honor its highest achievers.

Great Job Tom, Steve and Regina
