just watched Alex run out the whole table, thats for all you f-tards that say pool players fundementals arent good enough and cant compete, he was smooth as silk baby and didnt hit that ball like a hammer, hoping that if he missed it will slop in somewhere else like the "real" snooker players do,and he used something other then center stun on every shot, wth you peeps are nuts if you think he cant compete, what do you think God gave the Europeans better eyes or stoke then the rest of us...i say hogwash yo your elitist thinking and i hope Alex crushes their little Tea party in England. Be prepared because Cory will be right behind him. HELL YEAH!!!!

Ouch -- Daniel Wells beat Corey Deuel 4-0 in frames, and in total points it was 386-40. And if I'm reading that scoreboard correctly, Corey's high run (break) was 8.

Daniel Wells had a 105 run in his match with Corey. High run of tournament is 134 so far. So these guys can play!

A lot of safety play, you only need to miss a couple of pots, not necessarily
easy ones. The points scored not always a true indication.

You can sometimes play a match not do much wrong and the score line does not give you justice.

you can't talk about bacon and not fill us in on what a "butty" is? I"m guessing it is a sandwich of sorts? My granny from Ireland had all kinds of funny names like that for food! :)

oh, and you guys talking about big pockets and slow cloth helping Alex in the above video........what about his clearance at the qualifier? did he get the "easy" table at the event?

Alex played snooker growing up - he does not represent pool players, or pool players' fundamentals. His fundamentals are closer to a snooker player's than any other (American) pool player because of this, but they are still a long way from a top snooker professional's.

You are completely missing the point with this god-given eyes/stroke crap. Snooker players have the obvious edge because they have put in years of training on equipment that forces you to develop a straighter stroke that is repeatable and with as few unnecessary variables (head/body movement, wrist-twisting etc.) as possible. This is the reason that it will be so tough for Alex to compete, and damn-near impossible for Corey to compete. Just look at the results of Corey's snooker experiment so far and you have to acknowledge that, regardless of where he may be someday in the future, right now he is not even close to being a professional caliber snooker player. But I'd still love to see him play, and think it's really cool that he's giving it a shot despite all the beatings he'll have to take.

Actually, on second thought, forget all that. I got distracted by the facts. Let me try that again...

'MURICA!

It appears that Melling and Alex won their match. Corey did not.

I'm sure some folks will view this as me being a "hater."

All I'm going to say is that if Alex manages to get a spot on the pro tour, he's going to need to get a higher break average than 26 to stand a chance.

Alex didn't have a break average of 26 (which I imagine would be pretty good). The 8 numbers you averaged to get 26 were the 8 highest breaks he had in the four frames he played, not the average of all of his innings or scoring innings.

But that does raise an interesting question. How many points (how large of a "break") do the top snooker players average per inning in major events? I imagine it is a lot like straight pool, where points per inning may not tell much of a story if the game involved a lot of safeties.

Not sure how accurate it is, but.. I found this.
