QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

It's way out of character for Emily to attend a 10ball event, so something is surely in the works. Whether she wants to be a producer, a co-producer, make this a WPA ranking event, or possibly even produce another event in Qatar, time will tell.

Whatever happens, though, Emily is always looking for new events in new locations and has done wonders in the further globalization of pool. Her presence can only be viewed as a positive.
Getting greased with some $$$$$$$$$ and middle-eastern hospitality.

Now when she is aware of "qualification story", maybe WNT majors will have qualifying events, eventually. Long overdue, IMO.
Emily must be jealous about such a Cinderella story happened not at their tour (MR recently had some of them in darts, so they know how it boosts the interest).

Got to wonder what Emily Frazer was doing at the final in Qatar for a 10-ball event sanctioned by the WPA. The thought occurred to me during the tourney that MR ought to align with Qatar to make the event 9-ball in the future, with ranking implications for both the WNT and WPA.

The Qatar event stands alone for now as a one tied to neither Matchroom nor Predator.

.Initially the Qatar event was 9 ball. It was changed to 10 ball in 2024. From 2010-2019, Qatar hosted the World Pool Championship. The 10 ball cup appears to have morphed into current configuration from its WPC predecessor.

Given past ties and Frazer’s presence, I have to think something is in the works.
She wasn't there on vacation!

i guess for 256 field events it's less necessary, especially when first prize is south of 50k. personally i like it though, it's a superior method to "be one of the first to click on a website link".

arseni sevastyanov was a cinderella story imo, even if he fell apart in the final

Magpantay played lights out, no doubt. But I also think so many top players exiting early or losing steam at the end (Newhausen) reflected how tired they were. Some had been on the road in Asia and the Middle East for darn near two months. Fedor went from the China Open to Vietnam to the Philippines to Qatar, for instance.

Yapp was so tired after the Reyes Cup he didn't stick around for the Philippines Open or even go to Qatar.

Tough and hard to be on the road so long. Some players got sick in their travels, too.

Looks like in order to let fans in, they might have to change the venue. Which is unlikely, and hence unfortunate.

Agreed. Burnout is an issue, though a manageable one, as players need not play in more events than their bodies and stamina will allow.

Still, two months of tournaments exclusively in Asia is big progress in our sport, which has, far too often, asked its top players to bounce from continent to continent at a moment's notice. Yes, for those who played in each of the World 9-ball, the World Games, the US Open and then the China Open, things were just as bad as they used to be. For the non-Asians that just spent two months in Asia with countless good earnings opportunities, these were good, albeit challenging, times. I feel like we are on the right track here but still need to do better.

Still, your excellent post underscores the importance of continuing to manage the world calendar of events more effectively in our sport, which can only happen when WPA/Predator and Matchroom learn to collaborate.
