I have followed the funny pic thread for years but have yet to see anything funnier than this picture.

hilarious. makes me want to see ralf try on other head gear.

production was decent i guess, and a slight improvement with the setting. the commentary isn't up to par for a 450k tournament. i can fade an hour of pepsi talking, at best. sounds like he's narrating a children's audiobook, and the repetitive and weird vocabulary makes me crazy

again, it was puzzling that Quinten Pongers could not come up with anything other than "This is a very important shot" and basically calling what just happened on the table, i.e. what we have just seen.

"Oh, did you see what I've just seen!" - another (in)famous Pepsi quote, lol

Wow! Those ladies' lipstick color is an exact match to the color of their uniforms. I know, I know. Only a girl would notice that. :giggle:
Kidding aside, these ladies represent Qatar Airways aircraft crews. This, along with Emirates and Singapore Air, are considered bees knees of air service. Top notch.

Yeah that doesn't really smell right. Here is another interesting qualifier story.

2019 China Open: Anton Raga and Jerico Banaras

Raga: 22-year-old came in through qualifiers and lost 10-11 in the finals (to Kaci)

Banaras: Played incredibly in qualifiers (828 speed) bringing his rating to over 800 and yet failed to qualify (beat strong players by big margins and lost a couple gatekeeper matches 8-9)

I think you mean Raga lost to Wu 10-11 (not Kaci)
Another qualifier in final was Roberto Gomez in W9B 2007. Gomez led Peach 15-12 in race to 17. Peach won last 5 racks to snap it off. At 15-15, Gomez was emotional mess missed 2 balls including 9 ball

Got to wonder what Emily Frazer was doing at the final in Qatar for a 10-ball event sanctioned by the WPA. The thought occurred to me during the tourney that MR ought to align with Qatar to make the event 9-ball in the future, with ranking implications for both the WNT and WPA.

The Qatar event stands alone for now as a one tied to neither Matchroom nor Predator.

.Initially the Qatar event was 9 ball. It was changed to 10 ball in 2024. From 2010-2019, Qatar hosted the World Pool Championship. The 10 ball cup appears to have morphed into current configuration from its WPC predecessor.

Given past ties and Frazer’s presence, I have to think something is in the works.

Phenomenal performance by Magpantay, obviously. Seemed like he never failed to runout when the layout was there. Played some great safeties and kicks and hardly looked perturbed. I kept thinking he would falter or the pressure would get to him, but it didn’t.

I suppose it’s a Cinderella story, but he does have an 820 Fargo and looked every bit that good. I will be curious to see if he plays in more international events, and how he does.

Nice event that underscored, at least for me, that the game is a bit more interesting on (what appeared to be) 4 1/4" pockets. The players can, and did, go for a few more runouts on this equipment and it made the game more exciting.

This cannot become a Matchroom affiliated event unless they switch to 9ball. After all, Emily does not even recognize the existence of 10ball and everyone at Matchroom has been trained to deny that winners of the World 10ball are actually World Champions. It went full tilt when Kaci took exception in the genuinely disrespectful post-match interview at the 2024 World 9ball.

It's way out of character for Emily to attend a 10ball event, so something is surely in the works. Whether she wants to be a producer, a co-producer, make this a WPA ranking event, or possibly even produce another event in Qatar, time will tell.

Whatever happens, though, Emily is always looking for new events in new locations and has done wonders in the further globalization of pool. Her presence can only be viewed as a positive.
