Qlympics?

Any updates on what's going on in Louisville right now at the Qlympics?

There doesn't seem to be much buzz about this event. How players did they get for the Bank Pool Tournament?

John,

Each US Open events are $5,000.00 added guaranteed, with no minimum requirement. Mark promised to add $5000.00 for up to 50 entires and $100.00 per person exceeding the 50. That is $20,000.00 added total. The sign up list is pretty small right now, but with the added money, it's definitely worth the swing, I say.;) Especially if you're already there.

Anyone have updated pictures?

Did you check out the walk through video on theactionreport.com? There were some free plugs for PoolTees. You should know:cool:

As we wonder, Justin is cutting away at hours of footage. Hopefully it will be up soon.

John, quote below from Mark in another thread, it appears you have to be staying at the hotel to be eligable for added money.

Clearing up the confusion:

You do NOT have to be a BCAPL member to play in the 4 - US Open events. (One-Pocket, Banks, 10-Ball, 14.l). ANYBODY can play (that is why they are called ?open?). You can play in all of the events because one event is in the AM ? the other is in the PM.

So far the sign-ups are REAL slow. We are adding $5,000 per US Open event (+$100 per player over 50 players). Guaranteed $20,000 ADDED!!!! To participate in the added money, you must be a registered guest, (not booked through a 3rd party like hotel.com).

?So far we ONLY HAVE 38 total entries in all of these events. So ----- sign up and get some money!!!

Forms are here: http://www.playbca.com/Default.aspx?tabid=246. You can also sign up on site or you can fax or e-mail them in.

We have tried to explain this to everyone but there is still some confusion. The amateur events are for BCAPL members. The BCAPL amateur is $10,000 Guaranteed ADDED!!!!

THEACTIONREPORT is having 2 great matches; Danny Harriman vs John Schmidt on Nov. 8-10th. Shane van Boening vs Earl Strickland on Nov 15-17th. Go to www.theactionreport.com for more info. There is no door charge to the Qlympics, however there will a door charge for the challenge matches. There are also a dozen great exhibitors that will have some great values.

This event will not cancel. If you have any questions, please contact the BCAPL office at 702-719-7665. (www.playbca.com).

I just got back from a quick visit to the Q-lympics I was only there for about two hours. I drove to Louisville from Indy for a Dr. appointment for my son Cash (8 yrs old). He is fine, so we decide to go over to the east side to check out the action. I saw some great players Ike Runnells, Gabe Owens, Mark Jarvis right when I walked in the door but there were lots and lots of empty tables. Shannon Daulton was getting ready to play Brian Gregg a tournament match in the Action Room.

BTW: Justin and Big N get to pick tournament matches that are being played in the Action Room and they are taping these matches, same as the TV table at the DCC. So that is great for the TAR library. However there are not many people at the tournament and that is bad news for the promoter.

My son bought a case from Robin Bell which had her son's name embroidered in the pocket. He is Drake from the Nickelodian TV show. Cash is now more interested in pool so that was a great thing. I think Robin Bell is going home due to low turn out.

I also bought a Porper burnisher from a vendor. I was told I was the first customer today. This was at 6 PM. I walked down the way and bought a pocket chalker and a Q Claw. I was told I was the 2nd cusotmer.

I think the entry fees and the spread out nature of the tournaments has been a detriment to the Qlympics. I really hope the promoter comes out alright but it is not looking good so far.

Now for the better news. The Action Report room looks great. Also I know the Action Report is selling quite a few seats for the upcoming action matches and I bought a VIP seat myself for the straight pool with John S and Danny H. I will be there on Thurs night.

While in the Action room I saw and spoke with Richard Harris of Blue Grass cue fame (he is still not taking orders I will keep asking). Also while in there I bought a T shirt and the DVDs of the Shane and Corey match from Justin and Big N. I also plan on buying the PPV for the Strickland and SVB match coming up. It looks like they will have two cameras and I believe we will be able to switch our views during the match. The last match had excellent streaming video.

I spoke with Justin of the TAR and I think he said the pay per view was $25 but this would cover all of either the action all around or the 2nd action challenge. So for 25 buck you could see 3 days of action. I will have to say that is a substantial improvemnts over the first challenge where you had to pay for each day.

For them to not go way in the hole I think they need to sell about 300 views. I hope anybody that wants to see some good well produced pool action from the comfort of home please support this as I would like to see more of the same myself. Anybody out there lets try to support these guys, we only need 6 views per state in U.S. for them to break even and I know it will be a good value.

I think there will be some action at the QLympics later in the week as the weekend comes around but it was pretty slow on Monday night. Also on the weekends they are going to stay open around the clock.

Good Luck Qlympics

Actually I did check out the video and greatly appreciate it. However...my real concern is are there any people there to purchase some stuff :( Or participate in the tournaments for that matter.

Hoping to pick up...

You're right. It was pretty dead but hoping to pick up when the pro events kick off and when the Action Challenges get on it's way.

HUSBAND AND WIFE BOTH WINNING THEIR EVENTS. I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I KNOW THAT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW MARRIED POOLPLAYING DUOS, IS THIS A FIRST IN BCA'S HISTORY?

HEY, I HAD A BLAST.... SURE THE #'S MAY HAVE NOT HAVE BEEN THERE, BUT THE CONCEPT IS GREAT! I THINK IT WILL GROW THROUGHT THE YEARS AND BECOME SOMETHING SPECIAL.

MY HUSBAND AND I WILL BE BACK TO DEFEND OUR TITLES FOR SURE!!;)

Seems to me that the schedule needs to be altered. November might be too close to the DCC for people to be able to take time away from responsibilities to attend and the WPC conflict has to be a big problem with attendance.

Mark Griffin has done a lot for pool and I hope he can get this off the ground. Could the pool world support a summer event?

Thanks for the results, iceman!

Because it is three weeks long - that's what made it tough for me. I had 5 tournaments to choose from while the Qlympics was going on, but I did look into it and was very interested, but choose the tournaments closer to home.

As for the married couples, I know Bonnie and Mark Coats took firsts in a mens/womens event, but I believe that was the McDermott Tour.

Congrat's to you and your husband, Jacqueline!

I wish mark the best with this event,

I see a couple problems, first alot of players are in Asia now so that dilutes things and I think its a bit too long, and its a tough time of year before the holidays and just after summer.

I hope it picks up for them. I would love to see it come off as a success.

The banks are down to 6. Jason miller v john brumback winners side. Losers side is daulton, putnam, brian gregg, and tony chohan. matches start at noon, I'll try to post results when I can.
