In a couple of days the IPT-qualifier in Oslo will be played. Do not know which players will play, except for some Norwegians and Jasmin Ouschan (read it on her website).

Will try to update almost score by score on this thread during the qualifier, and will also try to get the players to write down break and run so we can get some stats from the tournament too!

Anyone in here trying to qualify by going to Norway?

Thanks for all your efforts! That will be GREAT to read all about it! :)

Your qualifier as well as the remaining 10 will be the last opportunity for any aspiring player to compete at an IPT event this season. The remaining two tournaments will be IPT members only. However, with a $500,000 first-place payout in Reno, it's going to make for some EXCITING POOL!

I'm anxious to learn more about Jasmin. She's got such strength at her young age. It sure would be wonderful for the fans to have her win a qualifier and compete in Reno!

I think that the score sheets used by the IPT for Q'rs requires that B N R's and 8's on the break be recorded.

I really hope she Q's as well, it would be exciting for a woman to earn her spot in one of these. I also see on her site she has two WPBA Q'ers planned!

I have to second that, after coming so close last weekend it really would be nice to see her earn her spot in Reno!

Tomorrow (Wednesday) there will be the third pre-qualifier at ElbowRoom in Oslo.

I am curious to see how many players there will be starting here at Friday, and how many there will be in Spain the same weekend... The players are soon running up for oppurtunities to qualify, so there might come some players from all around the world, even the states?

If word gets out, that is gonna be one small field in Rhode Island.

17 hours to the tournament starts here in Oslo... Wonder how many players, and which players who have chosen Oslo and Norway...

15 players in Oslo, 8 Norwegians! (Most players so far in the European Qualifiers for the World Open)

Nice to see that Line Kjorsvik is playing, so is also Jasmin Ouschan and Vilmos Foldes, probably the two best known players on the tournament.

Play will start at 12 tomorrow Norwegian time.

The players, and draw:

Vilmos Foldes, Hungary - Joakim Haugen, Norway
Kurt Maflin, Norway - Ben Davies, Wales
Rune Bratbergsengen, Norway - Line Kjorsvik, Norway
Lars H. Riiber, Norway - Richard Dalgren, Sweden

Kari Paloheimo, Finland - Stefan Mazrocis, The Netherlands
Jasmin Ouschan, Austria - Kasper Thygesen, Denmark
Kim Soo Garmark, Norway - Knut Kvaal Pedersen, Norway
Roger Lysholm, Norway - BYE

Lars H. Riiber is 15 times Norwegian champion,
Roger Lysholm is the reigning 8-ball Champion in Norway, ranked nr 1
Knut Kvaal Pedersen, Norwegian snooker champion the 2 past years
Kurt Maflin, 3rd in the European snooker Championship this year
Line Kjorsvik, European 9-ball Champion 2006
Jasmin Ouschan, European 8-ball and 14-1 Champion 2006
Kari Paloheimo, only thing I know about this guy is that he is the brother to Mika Immonen:)
Kasper Thygesen, one of the best in Denmark
Kim Garmark, former Norwegian Champion
Vilmos Foldes, one of the best in Europe
Joakim Haugen, reigning 14-1 Champion in Norway

More information about the players and some lines about why they picked Oslo after the players meeting tomorrow

Thanks for the great info, Roy! I had the pleasure of practicing quite a while with Line when we played on the WPBA. She is so gorgeous and a great player! Will be interesting how she and Jasmin do. I'm pulling for both of them.

BTW, did you watch the draw? How was it held?

That's a strong field, but I really like Foldes chances of getting his spot, he has to be considered a favorite out of the field to qualify.

Didn't see the draw. Got it from the IPT on email.

Think this is a fantastic system. Players, local tournament leaders and the room-owners do not know how many players and which players will play the qualifier. Then the room-owners needs to make it attractive to play at their poolhall, and the players needs to do a tactical gamble by thinking where it will be easiest to qualify. No one knows before the draw. Awesome!!! :)

About Line: She's the barmanager at my poolhall, ElbowRoom, and originally she was supposed to play the Norwegian 8-ball Championship for women this weekend. Luckily she changed her mind only 1 hour before end of registration, and will join the IPT-qualifier. (If the balls shouldn't roll her way she can still join the Norwegian Championship on Saturday)

Jasmin has been here a few days now, practising. She has been to ElbowRoom a couple of times before (finished 5th in the Norwegian 9-ball Challenge), and it is fantastic to watch her play. Her stroke is so soft and smooth, and she is a really smart player. The best of all, she has probably one of the hardest breaks on the qualifier in Oslo. Heavy power in her break... Will be fun to watch her matches tomorrow!

Watch out for Kurt Maflin, 22 years. Originally from England but fell in love with a Norwegian girl, and has lived here the last 5-6-7 years. Finished 3rd in the European Snooker Championship, and finished 3rd in the Norwegian 9-ball Challenge a month ago, only beaten by Mika Immonen and Oliver Ortmann...

Kick-off in 10 hours! Leeeeets geeeeeet reeeeeady to raaaack'em! ;)

Tried to attach some pictures, but they are too large.

Since I am not spending all my days in front of a computer I have no idea of what I need to do to get them smaller (think they are small enough on this small computerscreeen;)) so if you want pictures please check the updates at www.internationalpooltour.com :)
