Question about blue book for cues

I've never actually seen or looked through one of these blue book for cues, so I was wondering if anyone who has looked through one or has purchased one can tell me if the book just lists the value of a cue(s) or does it also include a picture for additional positive id of the cue?
Oh. One more thing. Which blue book for cues is the standard these days and where is the best place to find it? I know I can do a search myself but until I know which one to look for, I guess it would be pretty pointless right now. Looking to pick one up. Thanks again and Happy New Year to all!

The Blue Book has many pictures in it. You may or may not find the exact model you have, but most of the production cuemakes have examples of something that would be in the complexity range you are looking for with prices for the used market in various conditions. One mistake many people make is to think their cue is in 98% condition and think it is worth the mint condition value. Read the descriptions of cue condition percentages and the book will be worth many times it's price to you. The third editon is the best edition so far. I sell them on my www.cuesmith.com site. I accept paypal and credit cards.

The Blue Book is a comprehensive GUIDE to cues and their values. A lot of work went into the making of this book. Just remember it is a bit dated now (2005), and prices and values change in a fluctuating market. It remains a valuable and useful guide for anyone who deals in cues. Almost all cue makers of significance are represented here.

Besides values, it contains a history on many cue makers, contact information, collectibility info, and an almost 100 page intro with photos of some of the most beautiful, elaborate, and expensive cues ever made.

The next Blue Book hopefully will be worked on soon and out in a few years, but the 3rd edition from 2005 is still well worth getting.

The author, Brad Simpson, always does a great job with the book.

Well, it's not exactly a discrepancy.... I have a 74 cue that looks almost identical to a cue in the bluebook, a heavily inlaid rich.

I know that the cue was purchased in 74, however, the cues that look similar in the bluebook are listed as six point and they are from what I've been able to ascertain a Japanese made cue after rich cues were purchased in 78.

Mine is an eight pointer that I am now of a mind to believe was made by Frank Paradise and was the basis for the later six point model made by rich from the late seventies to the early eighties.

Other than that, the blue book is a must have for any cue enthusiast, whether a collector or a wannabe collector or just someone who can appreciate cues.

Hell, I buy them just for the color photo sections. Lots of beautiful cues, and you get to learn a few things to boot.

rich cue vs paradise

if it helps paradise always used a three quarter inch band on his cues .

Careful

After you start looking at all of those nice cues you might find your bank account dwindling; I know mine did! Kind of like a kid with a Christmas catalog.

Yeah I'm sure the account will take a shot or to to it but hey! Got that income tax check coming to me just around the corner! Thanks again for all the help.
