Question about chalk

Okay, this may be a stupid question, but here goes. I just moved houses and reclothed my table, from green to Championship tour edition in gold. I'm using the tan master's chalk with it. Here's my question- when I play in league it's on standard Valley bar tables with green cloth. I'm constantly going back and forth from putting on tan/gold chalk at home and then blue at the bar during league. It's not a huge deal, but I don't want blue chalk on my gold cloth at home. I'm a little less concerned about getting my tan chalk on the bar tables, as they're not kept up that well to start with.

I know this isn't a huge issue, but for those of you who have something other than blue or green cloth at home, and play out a lot, what do you do? Use different cues to play out? Keep going back and forth between the chalks and getting the wrong color chalk onto your home cloth? I guess I could just use my tan chalk in the bar, but would feel like kind of a jerk.

Thanks for the input,

David

I have khaki cloth on my home table and I use masters tan. When I go to the bar/hall I use masters green or blue. For me, its as simple as taking a napkin and wiping my the tip off.

go tan

a number of folks use tan chalk in the room I play at even though the tables are covered in green and the room uses blue chalk

they do it to keep their cues from staining blue

no big deal, just bring your tan chalk to your bar

Maybe others will completely agree, but when I have used my tan chalk on green felt tables, to me it looks like the same mark as the green chalk leaves. Anyone agree/disagree with this?

I'm probably the odd ball here, but why don't you use the blue chalk at both places. At home you can use it by keeping score on your new cloth. I'm always thinking. :)

If the tables at the halls aren't pristine it shouldn't matter. I use my master blue wherever I go, even on the reds. I spend enough $$ at their establishment for them to afford a can off chalk off and a good brush if they want to be anal about it.

I was thinking the same thing myself. Please don't tell me it's a GC or Diamond. I'm going to eat my gun. Why not go all the way with Pink?

Now if you tell me you convinced your wife to take out all the furniture in the living room and had to concede to the gold for her...well then your a real man and I salute you.

Did you say Gold cloth? What, are you Liberace? Lol.

I use orange chalk at home and away. I don't overload my tip with it and it very seldom leaves any marks on the table. Either way if the chalk is there it needs to be removed. This is a indicator if the tables are ever cleaned.

I play with Master gold chalk everywhere with no complaints from room owners/managers. They brush the table between customers anyway so what little chalk residue is there gets brushed away.

I would probably use two cues. One kept at home and uses the tan chalk and another would be my pool hall player. I have 4 different cues so it wouldn't be a problem. They all play a little different (balance, weight, feel) but that's what I would do.

There's another potential problem. A student of mine had a table with red cloth (a sports team thing) and used red chalk. When it came time to talk about spin, neither of us could avoid miscuing. He went out looking for more red chalk. All the stuff he found had the same problem. He got his cloth changed to green.
