Ill start off by saying I have a 2x3 Instroke Buffalo and my question is first in one of the butt tubes there is some newspaper crammed down in the bottom of that tube due to the fact that the prior butt was too short brilliant idea ......no i was wondering if anyone knows or has any ideas to remove that nonsense..... also is it possible to remove the tubes from an instroke and replace with inserts like on a justis or jb case the pro lite inserts thanks in advance Tommy in Cleveland....

go to Harbor Fright and get one of those flexible grabbers used to fish out nuts and bolts in tight places...should do the trick!

Gary<------------can't think of the 'technical' term for those dang things

If your careful you can pull the little nails out and bottom cap will come off

I would NOT recommend that!!!!!

I say this because I had a non-leather Instroke case where the bottom fell off due to these tiny nails coming out. I sent it to Instroke to get repaired and they said they don't even fool with cases in this state. They did give me a real good deal on a new case (50% off or something).

If you ever get a chance to look at the base where these nails go into, you will see how fragile it is.

Put a dab of Elmer's glue on a wooden dowel rod. Carefully slide it down the tube until it contacts the paper. Let it sit for a couple hours (or more; there's not a lot of ventilation at the bottom of a tube) and pull it out. Depending on how compressed (and old) the paper is, you might have to do it multiple times.

Another option would be attach a piece of 1/2" tubing (straight or flexible) to the hose of your vacuum cleaner and see if the vacuum will create enough "grab" to allow you to lift it out. Again, you'll probably have to do it in stages. He probably put the paper in the tube in stages to get the right height...so don't expect it to all come out at once.

I agree with this suggestion. It will just require a little patience & you will hopefully be rewarded

how about a nail on a stick? 0.o dont really know how it would work.. just kind of spitballing [pun intended]
But it you were to put a screw or a nail of some sort and pick it up? Like the criminals do on the side of highways in movies? I dont know how it would work but hey just as good as dropping a match... LOL

Try a coat hanger with a little hook @ the end of it?

I think you simply need to contact John Barton.

That said, I think the tubes just pull out (with wrapped up vice grips).

Freddie <~~~ not a tube pulling master
