When we were doing smaller events I had a couple say they didnt want to be streamed and just went with it. Not worth the hassles.
Now that we mostly do stuff like the USBTC or US Open 10 Ball the streaming is a part of the event itself. It is a way for the promoter to get added value for the added money being put into the event. So if you are in the event you play on the table assigned. If you choose not to play on the assigned table its a forfeit.
There is an issue with DVD sales of taped tournament matches and in the past we usually will give the guys DVD's of their taped match and they can sell or do what they want with them. If anyone doesnt want that deal or has a problem with a dvd being made we just dont fool with it. There isnt enough money in it to make it worth the trouble. But if dvd's are made and sold the players deserve some form of compensation unless they sign away the rights to any compensation.
As streaming moves forward and more and more people do it there will be issues with this and it will probably get messy.
I have heard of one possible players organization in the works and I would think media rights would be something they would look hard at. Just as the WPBA has done. Hopefully when the time comes common sense wins out otherwise most streamers will just not fool with it any more.
