Question Regarding It's George Cases

I have a question about It's George cases.
I love the cases. They seem to work well for what I need.

What is the progression of the labeling on the bottom of the case?

I know some have just "It's George, some also say "Brunswick Billiards".

I have heard rumors that the older cases are built slightly better. Not saying the new ones aren't. The new ones are still great.

I just didn't know the progression from oldest to the most recent.
Also, what does "old stock" technically mean.

Brunswick later bought out Its George, and after that it died. Old stock means brand new cases that never been used. There is a guy here, Ken Kerner (HighEndCues), who has a bunch of Brunswick old stock. According to Ken, they're still in plastic, with keys, and the pocket stuffed with newspaper dated 1996. You can't get any newer than that.

Two years ago the original maker of Its George started to make cases again, these are still available from Omega Billiards.

Tate has done an excellent write up on his website, documenting the evolution of the Its George cases. The newer cases have longer practical pockets, and 3x6 offerings.

All the leather ones are very well built. There are some vinyl ones that have a "v" stamped on the bottom but the lack of weight and the thin seam is obvious. The oldest cases have a Fellini style lock. As already pointed out, the Brunswick George cases were the last of the original line and they are very high quality.

A few years ago, a small batch of George cases were made by Mike Roberts and from what I could tell, they were identical to the original George cases with a latch lock.

Thank you everyone for your valuable information. I greatly appreciate it. I love the cases and just thought it would be great to get some background info on them.

the only other question I have about them is....
I have seen some with the bottom of the case saying "It's George," "Brunswick Billiards By/It's George" which one is the older style?

What would the bottom say if it was pre-Brunswick, Brunswick, and the most Recent with Brunswick again?

I just sold a 1x2 that had #3 on the bottom. Excellent case.

I have seen simply "It's George" on the bottom of several cases but didn't know how to differentiate between the "latch lock" and whatever newer lock they use now.

As was mentioned.. don't forget to watch for the "V" on the bottom, which indicates vinyl and not leather.

I don't like the look of the Brunswick edition It's George cases. The top and bottom caps are not as cool... in my cool opinion. :groucho:
 
The ones I've seen at Omega (#4) have longer, practical sized pouches and a side handle, like the Brunswick cases. The Brunswick have long pouches, along with a jump butt sleeve.

FWIW, I haven't come across a Vinyl case (V on the bottom) that has a keyed latch lock. That's also another way I use to confirm a vinyl case.
