Wenge.......super cue wood....a real bi tch to work with and finish. I would guess that's why:grin:

One of my first cues was Wenge and I swore I would never make that mistake again and I have never broke that promise. It's a dirty, splintery wood if I remember correctly and I had to refinish the cue 3 times and then just sold it a discount. It would really suck up the epoxy sealer so that I needed to put on about three coats. I would sand between coats so as to insure adhesion for the next coat. When all done, after a few days little tint white specks would appear where some of the sanded epoxy apparently filled some of the grain. To many other, less problematic woods in this world to choose from in my opinion to need to put up with the aggravation.

Isn't it the hit that counts

I though wenge was chosen for the good hit -like ebony but cheaper-mark

When I first saw the pic I figured wenge also....only b/c like others mentioned its pretty common in the older cues......

I never thought about it being any species of palm as I've never heard or seen a titlist or a plain 4 pointer from brunswick out of palm.....has anyone ever seen one?

If there were some it must have not been very many....
