Questions to CTE'rs

I teach two different ways.
1. Change the "aim line".
2. Change the "swing".

Cue ball always starts on the Tanget Line.

How do you cheat the pocket ?

How do you tell where the cueball is going ?

A couple of the other posts indicate how you can cheat the pocket. In my opinion, since this is a center pocket, ball pocketing system, it allows you to cheat the pocket on either side quite easily.

The cue ball path is dictated by the same data as with any other aiming system. If you draw, if you follow, if you use inside or outside spin, all of these things, including throw, squirt, swerve, etc can all be fine-tuned by your experience in playing, just like with any other aiming system.

Joey, CTE isn't going to teach you how to play shape within a cocktail napkins area. That comes with experience and time on the table. The type of equipment that a player uses and getting used to that equipment and LOTS OF TIME ON THE TABLE, is what brings you to Nirvana, but you already know that.

You learn to do all these things with Practice, that is why some play great, and other only talk about it. Practice, Practice Practice.

when you fully understand the reference (aim) lines and how it places you in a specific position and you learn to adjust these positions very slightly, cheating the pocket is easily done and will also help you with combos, caroms. But in my opinion this comes with experience with the system and again im sure i am the only one thats has this opinion and im sure i will be told im wrong :) and also petey is correct also.

Big Hairy Elephant???

Back Hand English lmao , Although I have been working on running out
using center ball, angle and speed. Such as over cutting a ball to come across the table rather than hitting the shot with spin when I can. Leaving myself a center ball angle to come down table rather than drawing it.
Thanks for the laugh

How do you cheat the pocket?
- Feel based on the center of the pocket, based on the pocket size and how much you want to cheat. This is outside of the gamut of the system (like a bazillion other factors required to play good pool).

How do you know where the the CB is going?
-Tangent line, like other methods of play. Just because you use CTE doesn't mean you ignore basic pool principals.

All CTE gives you is the shot solution based on the center axis. Once you move from there, you're on your own. It does, however, provide a SOLID starting point that's not based on a guess (rather, an objective reference). It's not a set-it-and-forget-it Ron Popeil do-all pool system.

Do you see the tangent line while standing up or when you are down on the shot from where the cb is ?
Or do you look at the ball facing the pocket then figure it from there ?
Thanks.

When there is this much confusion and argument over a system, you know something is up!

BCA instructors teach it, And you yourself said that what the BCA says is
law. Are you straddling the fence on what the BCA says being law

Stay very close to the ctel (<< trying to keep people happy) and adjust that "aim line" (reference points) like i have been saying all along :)

Most of it is while I'm standing up (on avg I think). If I'm really concerned with an exact path of the CB--- I'll send behind the OB to see the exact line. I think this question isn't CTE-specific--- it's a general question. Aiming has nothing to do with it, I think.

Dave, if you can see the tangent line while behind the cueball, why can't you see the aiming line and go down on that line and shoot ?
