Certainly everyone should be given a chance to win back what they lost. To a certain point. To me the point of gambling is someone wins and someone loses. Not a big gambler, never have been. Playing this guy cheap golf. $3 and .25 hickeys. That's about as cheap as it gets! LOL! Win three and he's down $12.50! Big time gambling huh? He talks of winning it back so I say $5 and I spot him the two hole. Increased bet plus weight. He loses and down $18.75! I told him earlier I need to leave in a while. I'm getting phone calls that mean serious money when I leave. He doesn't like me quitting and says if he can't have a chance to win his money back he doesn't want to play again, meaning the next time we meet. I understand if it was hundreds of dollars, but $18.75! LOL! If that kind of money bothers you, then don't gamble at all, and I'm actually fine with that. I don't need his money and don't care about losing small amounts like that. He had a chance to win half his money back in one game. I guess if I win ten $10 games, I need to play two games for $50 to let a guy win all his money back?!?! That's crazy! I think he's a nit!

tell him to hurry up and flip a coin for it all...coz you gotta go!

If you know you are better tell him you have to go but if he wants to win his money back you will play the next hole for $500 dollars, money posted. If he needs to go to an atm to get the cash you will wait.

Better know for sure you are better. If you are, that's the move.

That would work for me but I've known this guy in local leagues for years and don't want to upset his apple cart. I already know I can out gamble him and skill wise we match up pretty good. I would rather take $500 to the racetrack any day. Or buy a gun or put it to the cue Mr. Tucker is making for me. Pool is not really the best gambling option out there. The ponies always pay odds! Even cheap exacts pay $15 on a $2 bet.

Loudmouth bass!

Yes, he was a hoot! Just short of five lbs. Caught on ultralight ugly stick with six pound test. Open water thank goodness and he still kicked ass! Caught so many cat fish one time we had to put cat litter in the bottom of the boat! Really!

I think you were ok in leaving. You told him that you will be leaving soon. I have had that problem too. After our small bar weekly tourney, about 4 of us would play a very small wage ring game. (dollar on the 5 and 9 play respot) I was up about $20 in the ring game and said I was leaving after the next rack. I made both money balls and then unscrewed my cue. The resident whinner started doing that, even after I said I was leaving. The other two guys were like "he said he was leaving. why you upset?" Nothing wrong in what you did man.

Bet on yosef.

I've seen many pool players who win more than they lose but I have NEVER seen even one pool player beat the racetrack in the long run.

Lol

One time I had a hispanic guy come into Shooters and I had the Challenge table, and he asks if I wanted to play for $50. I said sure, we flipped for break and he won. Well, he happened to make the 9 ball on the break, and he refused to play anymore...

I see, I didn't realize you were discussing gambling.

Mr. Wiggles,
Are you playing to win or lose? If you lost and had to go there would be no problem, I'll bet you that. You win and you have to go you do just that, Go. Don't let nobody sweat you or your game, whatever it is. Leave when you get ready to leave.

Horseracing

Lot of truth Joey. Almost any gambling endeavors that are done constantly will result in losses. I have played pool since the mid sixties and have never ever had a year in the red. And most of that was just barroom pool for small stakes, but it adds up over time. Horse racing is tough if you go all the time. My theory is hit and run now days. Two years ago at Bobs next door to the Flamingo I held the dice for 45 minutes. Went thru three stick men and ended up with three pit bosses! LOL! And now my crap shooters tip of the day!! Only bet on shooters who SET the dice! Somewhat the same in horse racing, you don't bet on every race!

*GASP* You mean if he quit loser there would be no problem, but since he quit winner there was a problem????

How insightful.

You do not quit winner...EVER. If you don't specify an exact time to leave, then you can expect to be there all night.

I understand, you have sh1t to do. Tell me BEFORE the coin flip. What am I supposed to think when you win 2 games and all of a sudden, you have something really important to do.

Mr. Wiggles, if $12.75 isn't a big deal, why did you just let him slide on it?
"Hey, I have to go, keep your money. Thanks for the games."
Isn't it funny how the guy quitting winner always says that?
"Well, it wasn't a whole lot of money, so I don't understand what the big deal is."

Lock N Load,

Thanks Lock. I know what's right and feel like I do others right. People guilt you cause you win and that's not right. In the old days everybody played heads up and no one asked for weight. Don't know when the weight thing became the norm. I only speak of bar room pool with regular joes, not pros and road players. I guess weight has always been around for the great players.

Casinos love guys like you. You'd hit the mega jackpot and give it all back same night plus more.

It's called "gambling". you lose and the other guy walks, that's the chances you take, so don't lose in the first place. Unless there was an agreed upon number of games up front, it's okay to quit winner anytime. Anybody that says different usually is the loser in gambling.

And you obviously don't play for money. Gambling in a casino is not the same as playing pool for money. Same situation in every card room in the world: 2hour limit, 3 hour limit, etc.

Casinos actually hate guys like me...I bust them on the free drinks.

Are you saying you feel it is all chance when you win at a pool game? My only worry if I am winning is the guy quitting, not he might get his money back so I have to run away while I am still ahead.

The last time I looked, "The money in my pockets, belonged to me."

Some people think it's just a loan. I'd like to have a nickel for every time I heard the phrase. "I want a chance to win my money back." If they were so fond of it, they never should have lost it, to me."

I've seen many pool players who win more than they lose but I have NEVER seen even one pool player beat the racetrack in the long run.

This is very true. I used to work in in the money room of a racetrack. We took in many a pool player's money, along with everyone else's of course.

As far as allowing someone to win their money back, this is fallacy. They are entitled to nothing more than the thrill of the bet. If they lose, so be it. I've seen it all and I've been on the winning and losing end of the bet as well,as have we all. I've taken it like a man each time. If I lose, you get my $. No *****ing and moaning, no insults, no scene of my groveling saying "you owe me a chance to win it back", nothing. The thing that gives me pause to gamble these days is when I've come up winner. I really can't stand to hear all the whining about "wanting a chance to win it back" and all that. That train of thought is ridiculous and pathetic. So you weren't man enough to endure the loss of the bet. Not my problem. Here's a hint: money is not the point of life any way. Not pride either. Each person can define their life in any way they so choose. Should they choose something as profane as money as the pinnacle of human achievement, well, then they get what they deserve. And yes, I've had one beer too many...
