Quitting winner

Whenever I get the chance. I have made plenty of money playing pool. I also make sure I play guys that I know can afford to lose. That usually ensures they don't whine after they lose.

Would you mind answering my question now? If the bet is $10,000 and he quits after winning the first set, is he a nit? He bet an awful lot of money didn't he? My point is, if I play a set for $100, I am playing to win $100. After the set I will never feel any obligation, win or lose, to play again. All of the terms were set forth before the set. If you are going to cry if someone quits, make sure you make the game the way you want it before the set, and don't just assume that your opponent knows your "old-school" theory of gambling.
thats why i suggested playing 2 sets and agreeing before you start! i guess i cant answer that question because personally im not paying one set for 10k.i would make an agreement before playing that we play 2 sets for 5k.gambling at pool is as much about matching up and game making as pocketing balls sometimes and i dont and wont cry because i know BEFORE we start im going to win x amount of money or lose x amount.

Sounds good to me. The only point I have tried to make on this entire thread is that it is not okay for a person to complain after losing when the winner never agreed to more than one set. I am all for establishing rules before the gambling begins.

lol

I like how someone will never quit after one even if they know for an absolute fact they got the worst of it and got lucky the first set. It's like you feel guilty for doing what you worked hard to do, and now want to undo that work.

I'm sure the other player appreciates your honor, especially if you get lucky a second time and take twice as much money from him (that you apparently consider rightfully his, and you'll do whatever you have to in order to guarantee it floats back into his pocket) =P

if there is no set number of games then its ok to quit whenever anyone wants in my opinion. if im playing and my girlfriend calls and says her car broke down then you bet im going to quit...winner or loser. just my $.o2
