I say once the balls are racked the 'breaker' has the right to break or hav the opponent break. No mor ball touching. SHOOT!

I don't understand it either. Most tables I've ever played on the rack took a NATURAL slug pattern. Some have even had divits so deep the racks head ball could duck the cue ball on the break.
And these idiots want a tight rack...LOL:bash::rotflmao1:

Is it just me or has rack checking gone to an absurd level?
I understand why the pro’s do it, to an extent, but can anyone explain to me why a bunch of B and C players, myself included, need to be nit picking about the rack. Better yet, league players nit picking about the rack.
I’m not talking about seeing the head ball fall off. I am talking about examining the rack like we are some brain surgeons looking for this paper thin gap...like now all of the sudden it’s a slug rack and how dare you leave a gap between those two balls back there, in the back of the rack.
To me, this is one of the reasons why rack your own is such a good idea and why, when it’s not rack your own, I would rather watch two 90 year old men playing chess with bad bladders.

I always check the rack....not only to see if anything is loose, but to determine where to break from. I rarely have to ask for a re-rack...it's more about which ball should go for any given pattern.
Here's a good move.....in rack your own, check the other guys rack before he breaksyou get funny looks!!

I don't usually check the rack unless it seems as if something is loose from where I'm standing getting ready to break. If something does look odd I'll check to make sure. Other than that, if the balls are racked tight I'm good to go.

The best part Koop is that most don't know what they are looking at. I look at the rack to find hints regarding Joe Tuckers racking secrets. I think most people are checking the roundness of the balls.![]()
I didn't read all the posts so what I'm going to say might have already been said.
If you are below "A" level, checking the rack is a complete waste of time, except for making sure the 9 is not wired to the corner. D, C, and B, players are going to miss several times per rack. None of them are running out from the break. The rack makes no difference.
