Racking controversy at US Open - The Rocket implied some "cheaters" !!!

They should just change the rules to rack for your opponent, you aren't allowed to rack them tight, but instead, must strive for the worst rack possible/the best slug you can possibly give.
So that everyone and their mother breaks their arm trying to hit them hard, and they watch as the balls kinda shift and nothing really moves, and that one ball that has enough power, dribbles out of the pack and hits a rail.

All the players loading up their shoulders, backs and elbows with icy hot, looking like cripples after a days play.

Now THAT would be a fun tournament to watch.

Is that a new Rodney post or is it from last year? Seem to remember seeing it before.

And if you're gonna use poker as an example please note that you cannot give yourself 4 Aces And your opponent a Royal Flush......THERE ARE NOT 5 ACES IN THE DECK!!!!

Don't play much Holdem do ya?

I call bs...

I don't ever manipulate shit and I make two and three balls practically every rack...

I have top players telling me they wish they had my break...so I just don't buy the rack mechanic stuff...

Some people just know how to break...

Last big event I saw here in the states that used refs to rack the players raised so much hell about it that it was changed to rack your own.

So if players b!tched when refs rack, when its rack for your opponent and rack your own I'll be damned if I can see a solution. My opinion is that if you can't trust players to not cheat their opponent you have way bigger problems than procedures for starting a game.

Racking is only broken because there is so little honor in the game. Fix that and a lot of problems including the rack go away.

Amen!!

I inquired about this awhile back and don't think I ever got an answer. What ever happened with Sardo? Couldn't using a Sardo, on a marked table and not allowing anyone to touch the balls after being placed in Sardo eliminate all of these concerns with the exception of what order the balls are in the rack?

This is it, basically. The fact that there is more outrage about about a player enforcing an actual rule (Boyes/Dalton thread) than about players actively cheating to gain an advantage says a lot about the state of pool.

They damage the table from what I heard.

Yep, In Germany they mark the rack area and draw a string line all the way back to the rail.

No chance to tilt. I don't like rack your own but it's pretty simple, opponent checks the rack and done.

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering why they don't do that here.
Do they still stack and forklift the tables onto the trucks to go to different tournaments without reclothing them every time?
I know sometimes after an event the tables were sold so I don't know.

I can see people not wanting to mark up the cloth if the tables are going to be used in a couple different events and they don't want the expense time and effort of reclothing them each time.

I've always been an advocate of this. It should be standard procedure for every professional tournament.

Hold up Biebs,

You can be a bottom dealer and give yourself 4 aces but what happens if your opponent gets a miracle royal flush?

You can't get a Royal Flush if opponent has 4 aces.

A straight flush would beat 4 aces.

I for one an sick of racking bs.... it's every tournament even in apa and bca. Pros get a ref to rack the balls and DO NOT allow them to inspect the rack! If they don't like it don't play. That's as equal as it will get. Or other soultion play 15 ball rotation that will solve the racking crap.

They just tilted the sardo also. But IMO that's the best rack I have used,at least it slows the cheaters down some. John B.

Hey Rodney if you ain't smart enough to figure out how to read the rack or how to rack the balls then shame on you. Players in all sports try to figure out how to gain an edge on each other an in this case they know how to rack better then you. Stop acting like a little cry baby. Maybe your just over the hill an don't have what it takes to play with these guys anymore
