I dont know if anyone is watching the life matches on bwin from the european championship, but ive been watching a bit, and saw that Ralf souquet got his behind kicked by a player that doesnt ring a bell to me.

round1: Walk-Over 0 vs 125 Souquet, Ralf
round2: Hybler, Roman 125 vs -2 Souquet, Ralf
round3: Babacan, Savas 42 vs 125 Souquet, Ralf
round4: Vries de, Alex 125 vs 83 Souquet, Ralf

Ralf only won 1 match and isnt even with the last32... shows how many good european players there are. Especially

also not to forget, my boy the fristiman is doing greath. Maybe he can make his revenge from the last bad match in the world championships in Dubay.

round1: Das, Serge 125 vs 0 Walkover
round2: Das, Serge 125 vs 27 Boyle, Ronnie (break of ? havent asked yet)
round3: Das, Serge 125 vs 40 Mattila, Mikko (break of 95)
Last32: Das, Serge vs ????

So our belgium boy is in the last32 in the winner side, together with players like:
Ortmann, Oliver
Facquet, Vincent
Foldes, Vilmos (who just kicked nick van den berg, and Niels Feijen the terminator to the losers brackets)
Hohmann, Thorsten

I'm not knocking Ralf's game, but his strength does not seem to lie in 14.1. It doesn't seem to be this champions cup o' tea. His "weakest" game is the envy of 99+% of players.

Is Engert there? I checked the website and its not working very well. I click the links on the left side and nothing happens.

I don't know whether it is his weakest game or not, but this year at Derby City, Ralf had consecutive tries of 0-137-84-70 on one day. (The 0 was a scratch on his first try of thte day.) Considering how tight the DCC Diamonds play, I think this says his 14.1 game is somewhat above average.

Thomas Engert is not in the German team this year.

Hohmann has made 3 100+ series in his 3 first matches, including a 125 and out.

Alex de Vrier who knocked Ralf out of the tournament had 72 as his highest run before today. He started with 14, then Souquet made 83, and then Alex made 111 and out and bye bye to the German top-player.

The last 15 years Ralf Souquet has got medals in the 14-1 8 times, including three gold medals in a row, so I would say that he is doing ok in that game too :)

Hohmann's opponents must feel like a lamb that is about to be sacrificed:) 125 and out why even both to screw your cue together:eek:

Well, obviously I'm very proud and happy for Alex, he lives maybe 5 miles from me. Way to go Virus!

yup Double Dave,

i watched the match life on bwin and he sure has a good game.
he won his match after souquet also. shows character to be there again 100% even after a big win. (even if tot missed horible shots.)

respect alex de vries :)

Ortmann is probably going to loose to Stepanov (59-102-race to 125)
Dutch seems to kick ass is straight pool this year.Feijen needs 7 more points for semis.Van der berg is 67-58 ahead of Babica.
Where are Immonen and Alcaide?

You have to be out of your mind to not think Souqet is one of the greatest 14.1 players in the world.

Check out the internet sale section on ACCU-STATS.COM and you'll find the videos of him winning the 2000 US OPEN. You can get the finals and semifinals (both tapes) for like 28 bucks total.

I think on one of the tapes he runs a 120 and the commentators say its one of the best runs they've seen as far as good patterns and playing the game the right way goes...

I think he is as good as any US 14.1 player, Schmidt and Harriman included.

How is Stepanov generally regarded on the European tour? From what I've seen of his game he looks very solid.

Niels Feijen just wrapped up the 14.1 Championship. Well Done Niels!!
The other Dutchies are going strong too, 3 men in the last 16 (2 had to play eachother) and a Bronze Medal in the Womens 14.1 aswell, for Estelle Bijnen. Congratulations to both of them!

yup , the dutch team really has top european players.

together with germany, and poland, the dutch probably have the biggest amount of topquality players, and one of the top pool country's in europe.

Alex won vs souquet, won his match after, and then even kicked Sander tot out of the last32. Really impressive for a player with a 74 high.

normally u will be able to see the breaks etc on the website later i hope. At least it was like that last year. im sure there have been loads of century breaks made by not only one or 2 toppers, but by almost every player.

the 14-1 level is really high.

gratz to jasmin and niels for there win, and gratz to Serge das for his 9th place.
