Hey Linda, hope you're having fun, and thanks for all the great pics and threads!!
Just some random questions/thoughts (forgive me if these have been addressed in other threads - I haven't read them all):
Who is Jackie Broadhurst? Has she played in any WPBA events?
Gee, Rafael Martinez sure is playing well for somebody who was rumored to be dead last year....what was up with that?
I can't believe they called that loss-of-game foul on your Mike when the cue ball was still moving, and not on Mika -- and not on Sigel in the final of the KOTH tourney!!! I noticed at least two times where the cue ball was still moving when Mike started taking balls out of the pockets, in one instance actually throwing them down the table!
There really needs to be consistency in these rules. (Don't forget to mention that in your questionnaire!!)
Speaking of the KOTH tournament, some of the comments made by Mike and the commentators were absolutely ridiculous! First, Mike starts complaining late in the first set about not being able to run two balls the whole set; later, early in the second set when Efren doesn't make a ball on the break, the commentators say something like, "Mike's finally gotten a roll!!" What final were they watching? I saw Mike run out and then miss an 8-ball bank in the second game of the first set (more than two balls run there!) and then have an opportunity to win just about every game after that (I think Efren only ran three from the break; the other times Efren either came up dry on the break or missed, and Mike couldn't get out). Many times the shots Mike missed were somewhat tough but certainly pretty high percentage for a player of his caliber. And I was surprised LJJ was so obviously pulling for Mike, pleading with balls to go in and such...I would expect more neutrality. (Besides, how can you NOT pull for Efren, with his cherubic grin and quiet professionalism? Maybe she was just pulling for the underdog. LOL.)
One last comment: It's odd that Sigel would say that he knew you couldn't get out, and wouldn't have used that strategy against another player: You had two break-and-runs; at least 16 players didn't have any, including Frank Alvarez, John Di Toro, Helena Thornfeltdt, multiple BCA grand master champion Tammie Jones, and 8-ball guru and BD columnist Larry Schwartz!!! (And many other players only had one.) Shows what he knows!!
