Hey Linda, hope you're having fun, and thanks for all the great pics and threads!!

Just some random questions/thoughts (forgive me if these have been addressed in other threads - I haven't read them all):

Who is Jackie Broadhurst? Has she played in any WPBA events?

Gee, Rafael Martinez sure is playing well for somebody who was rumored to be dead last year....what was up with that?

I can't believe they called that loss-of-game foul on your Mike when the cue ball was still moving, and not on Mika -- and not on Sigel in the final of the KOTH tourney!!! I noticed at least two times where the cue ball was still moving when Mike started taking balls out of the pockets, in one instance actually throwing them down the table! There really needs to be consistency in these rules. (Don't forget to mention that in your questionnaire!!)

Speaking of the KOTH tournament, some of the comments made by Mike and the commentators were absolutely ridiculous! First, Mike starts complaining late in the first set about not being able to run two balls the whole set; later, early in the second set when Efren doesn't make a ball on the break, the commentators say something like, "Mike's finally gotten a roll!!" What final were they watching? I saw Mike run out and then miss an 8-ball bank in the second game of the first set (more than two balls run there!) and then have an opportunity to win just about every game after that (I think Efren only ran three from the break; the other times Efren either came up dry on the break or missed, and Mike couldn't get out). Many times the shots Mike missed were somewhat tough but certainly pretty high percentage for a player of his caliber. And I was surprised LJJ was so obviously pulling for Mike, pleading with balls to go in and such...I would expect more neutrality. (Besides, how can you NOT pull for Efren, with his cherubic grin and quiet professionalism? Maybe she was just pulling for the underdog. LOL.)

One last comment: It's odd that Sigel would say that he knew you couldn't get out, and wouldn't have used that strategy against another player: You had two break-and-runs; at least 16 players didn't have any, including Frank Alvarez, John Di Toro, Helena Thornfeltdt, multiple BCA grand master champion Tammie Jones, and 8-ball guru and BD columnist Larry Schwartz!!! (And many other players only had one.) Shows what he knows!!

Hello Kerry...

Surprise Surprise....Nice to see you here in the forum and hope you are well. Dave and I have really been have the best of times following all the happenings of the IPT and the electricity of it everywhere at the highest levels... I am sure you are feeling it too.

That Mike Sigel is the worst and he really needs to watch and hear himself on Tv.... Maybe he will realize what a jerk he has become.

See you around town with Pool and say hello to Mark...

Happy Late Birthday too...

Jeff :-)

Hey!! Good to*see* you on the forum, too! And thanks for the birthday wishes. :)

Yes, the IPT is terribly exciting, and I think it will be a great success. After all, money talks, and KT has money! It's been fun following the brackets online.

Take care, and say hello to Angie, Ashley, your mom and your dad for me!!

Thanks again...

And good luck with the NWPA and the WPBA. Hope you guys win at Uncle Jacks this weekend if you are playing and I will try to stop in if I can...

Jeff :-)

I thought Angel Paglia was the "Angel" of Billiards?

Wow, I guess that is how she hyped her way into the the IPT? I do not think she has played in any WPBA events but I am not sure.
I think if she was at the level she would have won some Q'ers, it made no mention of that. I am sure plays well but I do not see how she go into the IPT based on winning the BCA Women's Open?

Hi Kerry! Jackie Broadhurst won the BCA Women's Open division a few years ago (2000 or 2001 I think), on her first try in the tournament. She had supposedly been "training" with The Monk (Tim Miller), and he hyped her win to the max, in his literature. After that she played in a few Hunter Classic Tour events. Not sure what she did in the WPBA, but it's not listed as her cashing in any WPBA event, in the AzB player profile. She lives in Denver, and is, I believe house pro, at Table Steaks.

About Sigel...the thing I found most hilarious, watching the finals, was after Efren had won TWELVE straight games, Mike managed to win a game, and said, "THERE! How do you like it now?" :D LMAO To be fair, he did win the next few games, to tie it up with Efren (after Efren unexpectedly missed a few times), before Efren finished off the set.

Also...the commentators repeatedly incorrectly referred to the bridge as "the crutch", even after LJJ corrected them! Geez...why not just call it 'the cheater stick'?, get it right guys!

Were you ever able to hook up with Jack White?

"Hyped"? Lovely loaded word, that.

As far as I know, she applied to the IPT the same as everyone else, and got picked based on whatever criteria they picked the other 149 folks.

If you've got some evidence to the contrary, throw it out here. Otherwise, it might behoove you to start re-reading what you type before hitting that "submit" button.

The "Angel of Billiards" thing came from something she and a couple of other female shooters in the area started up some time back (it was "angels" then). I don't think they're still doing it as a group any longer, though.

As far as Table Steaks South (there's more than one) goes, I know she and her hubby (who I know better than I know her) live practically around the corner from the place, and she's in there a lot. I dunno if she's technically the "house pro" though. *shrug*

Hi Scott! Thanks for the info. :)

Gosh no, darn it, I did not hook up with Jack!! I missplaced the phone number and you know how it goes, out of sight out of mind....shame on me! I do still have the number, though; I just have to go through old PMs. I will definitely call him tomorrow. :( Thanks for reminding me!!

Who is Jackie Broadhurst? Has she played in any WPBA events? Not that I know of. She is a beautiful young lady. She won the open BCA one year. I saw her play one game against I believe Alex Lely. She was down and had a pretty easy out, but she got straight in on her ball on the rail. If she draws whitey a foot, she will have a pretty easy back cut on the 8 anyway, but she missed the 8. Her eyes were wide as saucers with the deer-in-the-headlights look.

Well, he sure came out of his coffin for this one! He has that stone cold killer look. Never a funny guy anyway, he is keeping to himself and is on a mission.

I am certainly going to, even though I think KT and Deno already know. We talked last night with the head ref and they were supposed to only give Mike a warning. :( That could have colored his whole day a little differently.

I think some of that is scripted or at least encouraged. And I think LJJ was just rooting for the underdog...not to mention that KT was standing next to her, lol.

Yes, and both of my BR's were consecutive, backed on each end with runouts either from a dry break or the first miss from my opponent. :D

Thanks for the support. This is a mecca of pool here. It's hard to know just where to look - there are so many good matches going on at once. I have videotaped a couple of awesome hill-hill matches.

Both Mike and I learned a lot about our attitudes going into the next one. You can believe we are both going to put up more of a fight, no matter how the calls go!
