Thank you Rangers, for your service. I will be attending RIP in a couple months. I was offered a position in the Regiment. I look forward to following in your footsteps. Pray for the Rangers of the 75th Ranger Regiment and put in a good word for me while you're at it.

Just out of curiosity for ftgokie what does Sua Sponte mean and how did you make Platoon Sgt in so short a time and when did the Manchu's move from Ft Lewis to Ak., Who was the 7th Colonel of the Regiment, and what does the star on my avatar stand for. The 9th Infantry Regiment left Ft. Lewis around 1990, when I received my first assignment their. Then around 1996 or 1997 they moved a Brigade of the 25th Infantry (Tropic Lightening) to FT. Lewis, and they carried on the tradition of the Manchu's. In fact they had a Bronze Statue in front of their Brigade Headquarters in full gear with Manchu hair on the helmet.
I joined the Army myself in 1978 and I retired in Jan 2003, from the 1st Squadron, 14th Regiment (Striker) at FT. Lewis myself.

Well, first off Sua Spont is the Ranger motto, which is "Of Thier Own Accord", I was an E-6(P) didnt have a Plt Sgt for about last 7 months I was there..so hence..Plt Sgt..when I got to Ft Wainwright, the unit iwas assigned to was A.Co 4/9 Inf Manchu...now, we did deactivate 4/9 Inf Manchu around 1996..and we were re designated 2/1 Inf...I left there on a Medical and to be honest..dont know what unit they are now..although I do know they are a Stryker Brigade.... David E Grange, now that was a hard charger..., out of all the Colonels of the Regt...Col. Darby has to be the one that stands out the most in my mind...gotta love that smoke your ASS Darby Queen. the star is the star of Burma..the country where Merrills Marauders campaigned.
And no, I did not mean that RIP is not hard..it will SMoke your AZZ....but if you are in the right frame of mind..and give 110%...you will do ok
this is all of the top of my head..80% disability with 60% of that PTSD..my mind honestly isnt as good as i was when I was in..but hope this will do

I think there is also more of a connection. When I took the psych test for Sniper school one of the questions they asked was 'Do you play pool well?'. I believe this has to do with hand/eye coordination as well as strategizing and abstract thinking for patterns. As well as filtering out peripheral distractions and maintaining focus on the direct task at hand.
But then again.. another question they asked was 'If you're riding in a car with other people and one of them farts, do you get offended?'. Psych people are weird. That one I think the psychologist wanted to know for himself.
1/10 Inf Battalion. 1st of the worst!

They became part of the 2nd Striker Brigade, the 3rd Brigade 2 Infantry Division was the first Striker Brigade. The Cavalry Squadron I reitred from was part of 3rd Brigade.

I am out of touch these days 1st SF group was in Fort Lewis when I got out. Things change fast in todays military. Part of 1st SF Group is still at Ft. Lewis, where it has been located since the 1980's. However, their Headquarters is located at FT. Bragg where it has been since the 1960's. Special Operations Delta, uses 1st SF Group for recruitment purposes, and they are co-located in a compond near them at FT. Bragg.

Thanks, I'm sure this will be quite an adventure. I've been on active duty for awhile, and have down plenty of 12 mile marches, especially down at Benning. I've down a couple 18's, as well, with the Germans for their proficiency badge which I've earned and helped others earn. The German's are some ruck marching mofo's. High speed, low drag all the way.
