I put this in the main forum as opposed to Non Pool, because I think there will be a lot of pool accomplishments.

Please rank the thing you have done in your life which you consider to be the rarest accomplishment vs the number of people who could do it.

Example, You win the US Open pool tourney. not many people can do that
You have flown a plane (more people can do that)
You scored perfect on your SAT
You've been on ESPN
You made 200k in a year
You shot a 60 in Golf
You ran a race to 7 out from the coin toss
You scored 4 touchdowns in a game
You played in the NFL

Whatever it is

So, it's the one thing you have done, that you think the fewest number of other people in the world have done. It could very well end up being something like winning a local bar tournament. I don't care, just interested to see all the different answers.

Thanks.

why not....

in high school I was up to bat in the 1st inning just looking to move the runner over (bunting). I decided to do it left handed (drag), since I was quite fast back then, and I could beat out a throw if I laid down a good one. First pitch was a bit high....called strike. 2nd pitch I laid one down the 3rd base line really well, but it rolled foul. With 2 strikes I now had to swing away. CRACK - went yard over the right-center field fence. Team batted around, and my 2nd at bat in the 1st inning I went yard again, this time right handed! lol. I'm sure it's been done before (since switch hitting is very prevalent nowadays), but it was pretty cool at the time. Same year we had a kid hit 2 grand slams in one inning too....BUT, both of his were right handed (I still remind him of that, lol). :p

Another maybe, less rare thing - I've had 2 hole in ones. One of them was on a 330 yard par 4. And just this year, I kind of equaled the 1 on a par 4 with a nice little 2 on a par five (520 yard hole).

I have had many other things I consider REAL accomplishments, but the sports related ones are more FUN.

my number 1 thing is fathering MY children. I'm the only man in the world that did that.

from a pool perspective, my favorite two accomplishments are captaining a team to nationals and winning the mvp tournament.

from a career perspective, making six figures and designing a system in a chemical plant that is still used by several plants to this day.

Had a few sports highlights as a kid. In Little League baseball, I never got in a game until midway in the season. Finally the coach let me pitch in relief, and I struck out the side. Did it again in the next inning. From then on I was the starter! My coach got upset when I went away to Summer Camp. So did I, I wanted to pitch! Played #2 Singles in tennis my senior year and had the best record of any player in the city leagues in Dayton. Only lost one match all year. I could have played my freshmen year at Oklahoma U. but the pool bug bit me hard. :)

Played some pro pool in the 70's and early 80's, never amounted to much. My biggest wins were over the National Collegiate champ Dan Louie 11-6 in Dayton and a 4-1 win over Jimmy Fusco in One Pocket when he was the Eastern States champ. Also beat Mike Lebron 5-2 in a Bank Pool match just before he won the U.S. Open. Oh, and I beat the Wisconsin State champ Willie Munson in Banks in the Dayton tourney also. Plus a win over the great Freddie the Beard in Banks in Kentucky. I had one run at DCC about six years ago in Banks where I won six or seven matches in a row. I was hitting them good back then. I think I made the top 50 that year. :p

I was always more into gambling at pool, and didn't like tournaments. I gambled almost every day and sometimes went months without losing! My biggest comeback was in a Race To Eleven with Billy Ray Suden for $200. He had me down 9-2 and I won 11-10. When I fell into stroke I played pretty good in those days. My biggest tourney win was the San Francisco Bar Table Championships in the mid 80's. Some good players were in that one. I finished high up in the Eight Ball division of the World Series of Tavern Pool back around 1983 or '84. I also won a tourney in L.A. back in the 80's where I beat Keith in the finals.

I guess my best accomplishment is directing over 100 major tournaments during the last 25 years and doing TV commentary on ESPN, SkySports and several other television networks. I'm proudest of my book though. So many people like it that I'm working on a sequel.

P.S. I scored a 717 in math on my college boards my junior year and 749 my senior year. Oh and one more thing I'm proud of. I have three final tables at the World Series of Poker (a 5th, a 6th and a 7th). Some pretty good players haven't done that yet.

I'm not much of a dart guy, but I threw a hat trick playing cricket when my opponent had a for sure out on his next throw.

Had the highest score in the country on the National Boards Part I in medical school; then did it again on Part II. Unfortunately I couldn't even run 3 fricking balls at the time. I'm doing better than that now....

Got my high school diploma at 46 yo to get into nursing school. Was 2nd in my nursing school and worked 12 years as a hospital and rehab nurse until I had to retire.

Two strokes left me with a "D" memory on the table. I had been an "A" on BB and "B" on 9'. I couldn't even draw the QB two times in a row w/o it flying off the table. I bought basic books and dvd's on pool, asked a LOT of questions on here (thank you all that answered them), bought a table and played 4-6 hours a day for over a year. I'm proud to say I'm back to a good solid "A" player on 7 footers...including Diamonds.

Had 4 books published and 6 short stories with a 7th grade ed. Johnnyt

Longest 8-iron ever

Trustyrusty reminded me of this.
Worked at a pro shop from age 12 to 18...could shoot some sub-par
when I was 16.....so...playing on a strange course..approaching on a flat
course....looked like a wedge but I remembered my boss telling me the
green always looks closer on a flat hole...so I hit an 8-iron.
As the ball got to the green it was just starting to rise...there was a train
passing about 60 yards past the green and my ball landed in an open flat-
car.
Back at my home course...I told my pro that I figured that the ball must
be in Chicago by now.

BTW..Trusty..I'm jealous...that round I almost had 3 aces..2 within an inch
on par threes and hung one on a 345 par 4.
I've only had 1 ace...on a 195 par 3

The single greatest accomplishment in my life was buying my parents a house next door to mine back in 99 about 9 months before my dad died. At the time i wasnt making big $$$, it put me in a bad spot for 2 years but was worth the sacrifices I had to make to buy it.

Nothing else even comes close to that, the rest is a pissing contest so i'm not going to list them as they are not important.

I have never won a pool tournment.

Im proud to be God Father to JA's Daughter, he asked Kelly and me about 6 months ago. The reason I'm proud is because JA and Mel are such great parents, not because JA plays pool good. They put alot of thought into it before they asked us, that was a huge honor. Again this has ZERO to do with pool.

And also spending 11 years with Kelly and never getting into one argument or shouting match, I have never even got mad at her. Thats one hell of a lucky break I caught meeting her, I did wait along time-I never just settled for someone who was less than I wanted, or couldnt be the person I need to be for my wife.

Mine is easy, I made it out of the ghetto in Cleveland OH without getting killed or getting locked up.

Next thing you know, I was in the Air Force for 13 years, put myself through college, taught myself how to program and am now working for Microsoft.

It was a rough road, but well worth it.

No reason to be jealous at all - my first hole in one was on a 160 yard par 3, and I hit it about 2-3 feet into the rough behind the green; it sucked back about 40ish feet right into the cup....I felt kinda dumb after slamming my club down after hitting it and yelling GET DOWN. lol. Shoulda just yelled - GET IN!

The albatross this year was more thrilling to me....I've had a few eagles on par fives, but never been REAL close to getting a 2. The tee shot was a BOMB (downwind), and I (jokingly) said to my playing partners that I might have a wedge in (520 yard hole). Of course, it wasn't a wedge, but it was a sweet 7 iron from about 185 (remember - downwind).

I'm thinking you play at a higher level than me...nice..drive and a 7 on a
par 5,downwind or not.

When I had my ace I started with a birdie and the the hole-in-one....
I'm thinking 3 under after 2 holes..COURSE RECORD....then my brain
froze...(hey,I was just 17)...3rd hole couldn't get the ball off the grass:angry:

one good night

well last night was a good night... i walked into the pool and got called out as soon as i walked in, the guy says i want the 7ball i said you got it, so we start at 20 a game then end up playing for 60 a game, after all was done he lost 360..then i left to play in a pool toury and lost my first game so i thought what the hell mite as well start drinking (lol) so after i started and 2 drinks later i get call for my game i said heads and he flip the coin it was heads so i break and run out... the pockets look like buckets lol so i go all the way though the losers and win the toury.... then the guy that finshed 2 said would you like to play a race to 7 9ball for 200 and i said yeah he fliped the coin and i put a 6 pack on him ....then i missed the 5 ball then he chocked on the 9ball so i won 7-0 then he asked for the 7ball to...i said hell no and went back to drinking, wow what a night....

Thank you for all the replies.

Looking forward to hearing more.

You could also say you have won a certain amount (which others wouldn't win)
You made a certain shot (like the spot shot where the ball is in the jaws and gets back cut)

You drove cross country, you've visited a certain number of countries, you've fought for our country.

Just post it. It's your thread to tell about your accomplishments.

I rode "Tornado" the pig for 3 straight hours last Saturday, it was a new world record and I would have been able to go longer but the Manager at K Mart said I should let the kids have a turn.

I was the first in my high school's history to qualify for singles in state for tennis. I was also the first (along with my partner) and only team in my high school's history to win doubles in state for tennis as well my senior year. A great way to end my high school career.

On a more silly scale I used to own a couple of records in the old Nintendo Power magazine years ago lol.

On a more painful scale I am one of few that I have heard (I am sure there are plenty) who has injured himself usually about twice a year while stretching in bed pulling a muscle/cramp in my leg. I now dont stretch my legs out in bed unless I forget for fear of it happening again.

I guess that was supposed to be something funny.

Epic fail, especially for a serious thread.

100% the type of stuff I was looking for.

Congratulations. No record is silly, you have something in your record that very few people have ever done, that's the goal of the thread.

The first in a school history can only been done at one school, so while there are a lot of schools the schools/student ratio is much smaller which makes your achievement pretty big IMHO.
