Rare & Fancy Gus - Ebony Front, Big Pin, Ivory Joint - Price Check

There will be very few people with the interest AND the money this cue will command. I love the cue, I would imagine this is the type of sale that either is offered first privately to a handful of the most serious cue collectors known; or is opened up as a "make offer" auction where the seller sets a time limit to evaluate all offers and then negotiates with the offers of their choice. I think that is the only way to find true market value of a cue like this.

Setting prices probably won't work- there really are no current comps to compare. Also, not having a dialogue with prospective buyers would not be prudent- lots of people make offers when they are not vetted by the seller- that is why you have to register for most serious auctions.

if Barry Szamboti replaced the wrap- assuming he also provided some written/verifiable attestation as to this cue being a Gus.

I have one with similar butt. Not ebony. I’m curious myself what this cue is worth. I can’t remember what the biggest ebony Gus I have looks like. I need to crack open the candy jar and have a look.

This might be the biggest ebony front Gus ever made. Some of the pics show 4 and 5 shafts but there are actually 6. The 2 that are closest to the butt are original and skinny. There is another old one with patina thought to be made by Gus later. That one is in the middle in the pics with 5 shafts. There are 2 newer shafts (maker not known) pictured farthest from butt and a sixth shaft (maker also not known) not pictured. Barry put a new leather wrap on and provided a receipt for that work back when that was done.

I haven't dome an in-depth inspection yet but the but rolls straight and the couple shafts I hit with also rolled straight.

This is obviously a very rare and fancy Gus and my friend who owns it is strongly considering selling it so I'm hoping to get a feel for what the market is like for such a cue. Hopefully the Gus experts can provide some clarity on it as well as confirming whether or not this indeed View attachment 604481View attachment 604483View attachment 604484View attachment 604485View attachment 604486is the biggest ebony front cue Gus ever made.

I dont know if my Gus Blank Searings will be as desirable, congratulations to the owner of this gorgeous cue

I would probably gamble 20K on this cue if I saw the provenance from Barry S. or Pete T. I know you Brian and I trust what you have to say about it.

My thought was it was worth about $15,000, but Jay offered $20,000 so I guess I was low.
