**Rare Video of Cole Dickson & Dave Matlock from 1993 LA Open**

I was wondering what happen to CALIRED, well iam very thankfull that you are back, you did so much for us here at AZ and it looks like you are starting right off where you left, by giving us at AZ more enjoyable pool material, Cali i hope everything goes your way in 2013, I hope you can make the DCC i know you love that place!

rare indeed

Thanks Calired........first time I have ever seen Cole Dickson on video......
that's the short stroke I remember him using alright.........

Matlock

David is a good friend and a phenominal all-round talent. While known mostly for his barbox mastery, he's also pretty sporty at banks('05 DC champ), one-hole and 3cushion. I believe his 3c hi-run is 17! If your ever in Olathe stop by Shooters(best spot in midwest) and introduce yourself. Dave works there and gives lessons. If your having trouble kicking and banking, Dave has the knowledge and is able to get it across very well. Great guy, super player.

My friend J.J. came to me before the 1993 L.A. Open and asked my permission to tape matches. We set him up right on the directors podium behind us and he put a small video camera on a tripod and would tape the matches that we put on the table in front of us. I tried to pick the best matches for him. It's some classic footage of players who are rarely if ever seen on video. J.J. worked for Ernie Guttierez (Ginacue) for many years. You may be able to still reach him through Ernie. I haven't seen him in a few years. I hope he's well, one great guy!

I havent seen him in 3-4 years, JJ has THE video collection, biggest collection of video's anywhere ever. It would be a massive project to convert them all to digital, I hope that happens. Wow!!!

Q&A:

Q: Is JJ 'tenfttall'?

A: Matlock is the lefty.

Thanks for putting up that vid, Guys. a real treat...amazing thing to see.

Only took me 4days to watch it!;)

Thanks for the kind words Richie! I hope this year is not a repeat of last year. I wish I could go to DCC again, you're right, I'm right at home there and would love to take all kinds of video to share with everyone but I'm living on a fixed income now so can't make it. Maybe I can find some way to get to the US Open in July. I would love to bring back some footage of that event to share with everyone.

I still have quite a bit of footage to share from my DCC experience, which i will continue to work on putting together and posting. I have had 0 motivation to do anything after such a crappy year, but am struggling hard to get myself "right" again, so I can work on this stuff. Hopefully me getting this video out will prod me into doing some things again.

Thanks again and hope to bump into you someday.

Thanks to all of you that let me know you watched it and thanks for the thanks:)

I hope many people enjoyed it and got a feel for how Cole played... meaning his stance, stroke, demeanor at the table, etc.... not whether he won or lost or took the right shot, after all this is one match out of thousands he's played over the last 50 plus years and none of us know his mindset coming into this one match on this one day in history:)

Same to Dave Matlock too... we got to see him playing from 20 plus years ago.
