Not sure what you mean by "hardest to play"....
...to me, it's your opponent that determines the difficulty factor.
I have some other games I also favor that are not listed.
Straight pool-one pocket
8, 9, and 10-ball....
...for me, 8-ball 'last pocket'
...9 and 10-ball...roll out or Texas Express is fine
I have never seen American rotation....no opinion
call shot 10-ball is not even on my list....
call shot 10-ball with the option is even farther off my list

Actually, now that I look at the list, I realize it's in the same order as my Hardest to Play list above.
One hole banks and 8 are my best games. I play ten ball better than 9 ball. My straight pool game sucks ass at least high run because I rarely play it sadly. I very much like American rotTion but also rarely get to play.
I'd rather watch 8, one hole and banks or American rotation. Ten ball is just a little less of a snore bore for me than 9 ball watching.
I also very much do like to shoot and watch trick shots.

When I play alone, it's either 14.1 Continuous or American Rotation. There simply is no reason to play anything else. SP and AR cover all of the bases if you want th improve your game.

I fell in love with Rotation after I got a handle on the rules. You MUST have a plan, knowledge, skill, AND good tactics. "Poke & Hope" simply will not get it done.

I am guessing you cant watch 1pkt because you get to jonesing so bad? If you cant play it ,you cant watch it? Am I close?
I only play 8, 9 and 10. I've had a go at Straight and One Pocket but can never find anyone who is interested in playing them. American rotation I know about but haven't played and haven't seen.
As someone already said, what does easiest/hardest mean - it depends on your opponent in each game but I'll go for the easiest being which one is the easiest for me to win if I sink the first ball against an opponent of a similar level to me. So, easiest to hardest:

For TV, well 9 ball was almost made for it - but on low budget sports channels without zillions of dollars worth of annoying advertising breaks my guess is that 8 ball is the way forward as it's the game that most people play and it's potentially easy for the commentators to relate to the audience - and there are a wider range of approaches to the game from the best players. Now, if Darren Appleton could get Barry Hearn onside....

I have played a little...and sweated and bet a lot more....FULL-RACK BANKS.
An old player at the Rack said full-rack banks requires more knowledge than even 1-hole.
nine-ball banks is more watchable for the general public, however.
I actually prefer full rack. I agree with the assessment of its difficulty. Hard to get anyone to play it though.
Hardest to play is full rack banks.
As for watching, there is only one suitable game to watch and it surely is a great game to watch. One pocket of course.
