I have a Ray Schuler cue and if I hold it near the butt and lightly bounce it off the heel of my other hand just below the joint i can hear/feel a slight rattle. don"t notice any rattle when shooting, still shoots solid, just worried about it getting worse. any thoughts or suggestions? I'm in Northern Ca.

No, wanted to get some ideas before i did anything but I guess thats probably a good place to start. I'll give it a shot. thanks

Wasn't the weights... they were all tight. The rattle seems to be in the forearm area, between the top of the points and the joint.

Your joint face is dirty or not flat anymore.

Have it refaced and it should tighten up properly again.

Sounds like an "A" joint rattle. I would recommend that you contact Schuler first and see what they say...

location

North Eastern Ca. closest City of any size is Reno Nv, about an hour or so away.

ted tidwell lives in reno he is a cue maker . he is a pretty nice guy .
you can call diamond billiards in reno and they can get you in touch with ted.

if all else fails pm me and i will get you his info.

the best choice is send the cue back to who made .

Thanks guys, was hoping for an easy solution but kind of suspected there wouldnt be one... I'll try Schuler first, if that doesnt work out I'll look up Mr. Tidwell.

Look up Noel Mendoza. He's on facebook. He worked with Schuler. I'm not sure if the Trims are still making cues.

ted is a super nice guy and very honest, im sure he can tell you what is wrong with your cue. but i am not sure if he will be willing to fix your cue when he didnt make it.
I have ted business card some place i will look for his ph #.

are you sure thaall your weight bolts are tight some cues you need a extra long allen wrench to reach the weight bolt.
most weight bolts i put elmers glue on to keep them from comming loose.

Schulers don't utilize a weight bolt. They have a weight system that uses washers and O-rings under the bumper. The O-rings are compressed by the screw that holds the bumper in place.

Thanks for all the info guys, yes the weights are tight, couldnt get them any tighter, I tried, believe me I was hoping that was the solution. The cue has 4 regular points, not floating but it does have 2 small inlays between a couple of the points. I looked it over very close and there's no visible signs of crackes or damage.

Thanks for all the help/suggestions, yes, the weights are as tight as possible, believe me I was hoping that was the problem... And no floating points, 4 regular points but two small floating inlays between a couple of the points, I looked them over, they appear to be tight with no visible cracks or damage.
