I would be happy to autograph any of the 99 Critical Shots in Pool you have. Just send them to me with a self-addressed stamped envelope and I will get them right back to you. Call me for the address, 727 798-5561.

Books are available at Borders, Barnes and Noble, and online if you need a copy of the new edition.

I copied Ray's answer to my post earlier in this thread so here you go Smokey.

I got a used hardcover in almost pristine condition by following the lead from google. Just type in the title and google will find it for you. Here's one link from a google search http://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listi...0?ie=UTF8&qid=1196077371&sr=1-8&condition=all

Bring it with, I'll spot you a ball also.:D

Thanks for posting that outstanding video. Not many people can play that good and stop to explain exactly what their thought process is at the same time.

The discussion about the mental aspect of the game after he stopped playing was also very interesting.

Where were you i was there at cm"s

Sorry, Thought I would be able to sit in the car long enough to make it there, I have a bad back and don't travel much anymore. About ten minutes in car is all I can take anymore.

Let me know if you ever come to St.Pete, I play at the Flamingo.

Hi ray, i hope u will be posting more in the future.

greats from a 14-1 fan from Belgium :D

the one, blackjack, ray, so many good players !

ray: if you would explain someone what you think are the 10 holy commands from your straightpool bible, what would they be.

since blackjack posted his neat in neat out, i never go in the pack if i can't find a sure way out of it ! im learning what he means every day a bit more. maybe i can find learn some things from you that will make me run the balls with less risk and more thoughts.

The very most important thing is to learn to control the cue ball, so you can get proper shape on the next ball, and all this is to asumme that you are hitting the cue ball in the correct place, and being able to draw your cue ball the correct way.

Where would you be comeing from in the car?

I live in North St.Pete near the Old K-Mart on 9th St N., it a straight shot out park blvd. I use to play at CM's in the late 80's to early 90's with Sam & Beth Massano.

You & I played some one hole a long time ago at the One Pocket club, that was Tom's park billiards after those two Brothers took it over, Charlie something, can't remember his last name. That was where you Autographed my first edition.

I use to play one hole with Eric and Little Donny Carlson, Big George and
Clean and Dirty Nick.

I use to travel around to all the pool hall's in the area, West Coast, Cm's, Keg & Cue, Side Pocket, Park Place, Crazy Cue, Tom's park, then they closed the Park BLVD location and moved to the second floor above the Speed shop on 34th st between 54th and 62nd ave N. after the brothers turned it into the One Pocket club and Bob's Family Billiards at 66th St & Ulmerton after he sold Crazy Cue to the idiot that would not turn the A/C on lol.

Now days I just stay at the Flamingo, as It's just down 9th street (now MLK )from my place, about 8 minutes and just around the corner from my office downtown.

I have not been to the other pool halls or bars in about 15 years.

I go to my Chiropractor every month or so, I was just a bit sore this past weekend and still a little sore today, when it flairs up I ice it 20 minutes every hour and helps, just over did it putting up the X-mas lights Friday evening.

:)

I've had your first edition book for a long time. It is one of three that I consider THE books to have. The other ones are Babe Cranfields "Straight Pool Bible" and "The Pleasure of Small Motions". I refer to these books alot.

What I got from this video are two things....1) How important knowing where the cue ball is going, 2) Which shot is the right shot to make in order to keep going.

Lately, I've really focused on incorparating these aspect in my game. My game has improved.

Thanks for the book and doing that seminar.

Hi Ray

You signed my copy of "99 Critical Shots" back in '78 at the National Billiard News Open in Livonia, Michigan. How I miss those days, watching you and Mizerak, Rempe, Sigel and Hopkins playing 14.1 all day long.

I think it says a lot about the value of your book that I've always known where to find it-- after nearly thirty years and a half dozen household moves. It's been read and reread and very well worn, but your inscription "Keep shooting, from the world of Ray Martin" is still quite legible.

Players my age will always be grateful to you for your contribution to the game. I hope you find some gratification in the revival of 14.1 these days. If you ever find yourself in Connecticut, there are lots of players and fans here who'd love to meet you.

Thanks from all of us,
Jim Richards
