FYI, I just posted a new video demonstrating a score-based version of the Runout Drill System (RDS), consisting of a set of 16 break-and-run challenges of increasing levels of difficulty. In the scored version of RDS (RDS 100), you run through one rack at each level, starting with 100 points and deducting points left on the table after each miss or foul. Check it out:

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests. I also hope you decide to enter the Challenge and try to beat my 77.

Good luck,
Dave

PS: Official entries are due by August 31, 2020.

Somebody just scored a 90:

Daniel Pleunik - 90 - https://youtu.be/ARqD-KIG7Bs

At the end of the video, you can see how "pumped" he was to break the 90 barrier.

Enjoy,
Dave

PS: Tom, it's time to get back to work. :embarrassed2:

Awesome work!! Great score! It’s awesome so many people are giving this a go!

90 May end up being the winner! That’s tough action right there!

It’s been crazy busy around here lately with pool on a back burner. Hope to find some time! Otherwise I hope you can crack this one!

Scored a 72 or a 69 today. I know that’s not to impressive. The incredible part is in level 12 I missed with ball in hand. I was perfect till then. Level 15 I made 3 balls on the break and then missed the first shot with ball in hand again. If the 3 balls on the break count I got 72 if not 69.

Balls pocketed on the break most certainly count, even with a scratch on the break and a miss on the BIH shot.

Dave

FYI, based on my now-vast experience with RDS, and based on input from others, I've made a slight change to Levels 6 and 8 (the 7-ball and 9-ball 8 ball run-outs). They now both allow one extra BIH. I've updated the RDS document.

Regards,
Dave

Thanks,
Dave

Good job. I'm glad you decided to post a video. FYI, I've added you to the Challenge. Good luck in the lottery draw.

Regards,
Dave

Thanks Dave. 73 wasn’t my best score but I totally blew a chance to have a really good score. I know of at least 3 times I was over 90 going to the last 2 racks and just didn’t get a good layout off the break. One time I was at 95 or 96 and still only got like a 72.

I blame myself when I do poorly on Level 15. One should be able to solve any problems during the 8-ball part of the run, especially with BIH to begin, and being able to choose the set. Level 16, on the other hand, can defeat even a pro if the layout is terrible (although, a good break can help in this regard).

I like this, but the issue is I can only go through it once a day, purely because of the first 6 levels, these first 6 levels are way too easy and make your stroke sloppy, so if I repeat the exercise the second time I will play worst after these 6 first levels.

Oh and I also believe level 15 and 16 are purely luck based, solving problems still needs luck, I can set up these two games for a player B+ to run them out, and can setup the games for a pro like shane van boening to still fail them.

Stop whining and start posting (scores and videos).

Levels 15 and 16 do take some luck, but skill helps a great deal also.

Good luck,
Dave

1.) Daniel Pleunik - 90 - https://youtu.be/ARqD-KIG7Bs

You might want to make sure you have the right video linked to this entry. I was impressed by the score so I watched it. After reviewing it a few times it appears as though Daniel leaves up:

-6balls up on lvl #12
-4balls up on lvl #13
-1ball up on lvl #14 (not entirely sure if you count the one he made but fouled in the process)
-3balls up on lvl #16

Here is the info from Dan's YouTube video description:

Score: 100 - 1(L12) - 4(L13) - 2(L14) - 3(L16) = 90!

Only "points" (not balls) left on the table result in deductions. In most of the 8-ball racks, you are not required to run out the non-chosen set, so those balls remain on the table with no penalty.

Thanks for checking though,
Dave
