When we conducted interviews with pool players and cue makers at the 1980 Rocky Mountain 9-Ball Open, we missed out on a couple of prominent people. Fats was one of these people that we regretted not interviewing. Another person we failed to interview appears in this photograph. The first person to correctly identify this individual and indicate where in the photo he appears will win the interview CD and free shipping. The website describing the interview CD may be found here: http://bfanta0.tripod.com/highlightsofpoolinterviews/

Here's the photograph:

Is it Danny DiLiberto, sitting with legs crossed to the right of Mike Sigel's rear end (I assume that is Mike shooting)?

I'll try Keither, kneeling down in front of the table on the right side of the photo.

Gee, it sure didn't take long for this contest to end! You are exactly correct, Joe! PM me a mailing address and I'll send you a CD.

Or is it Bugs Rucker with the black hat. Those faces are kind of small, so I'm just guessing.
You made two good guesses, but I'm afraid someone has already nailed it correctly. A young Keith McCready is kneeling down at the far right of the photo.

Next to Jimmy Moore(right-side) is Kim Davenport.
I don't believe Kim either attended or played in this particular tournament. But the guy you mentioned does look a bit like Kim. Kim would have been a little younger in 1980.

Thanks for the guess, but Joe Tucker has already won the CD. Heck, he guessed Keith McCready 10 minutes after I posted the photo! I figured it would be at least an hour before anyone guess "Keither with the Ether." Of course, if JAM has taken a look, she would have nailed it right away.

Dag nab it, I'm a day late and a dollar short! :(

Uncle Sam commanded my attention today, as I put the finishing touches on my tax returns.

That's a great photo, BTW. What a motley crew! :D

My buddy Mike Haines in Dallas just sent along another photo of Keith that you might like for your collection.

That does look like Danny, but you can see that it isn't if you look at a larger version of this photo on this page of our Website (it's the bottom image on this page) http://bfanta0.tripod.com/highlightsofpoolinterviews/id23.html)

Thanks for the guess!
Is it the "monk"? Great photos. Richie "the man in black" Ambrose. I was at a tournament in Davie, Florida one time and he was trying to wolf up some action with Tommy Brown. Tournament was still going on and some people told him to be quite and richie responded, "what is this, a f****** library? Quite a player and character. Anybody know what happened to him?

Nope, not "Monk" Costanzo

As for Richie Ambrose, I believe he is no longer among the living. Other than interviewing him in 1980, my only other contact with him was when he hustled me out of a few bucks back in the mid-1960's. He was traveling, at that time, with Tommy Tompson, son of the famed gambler Titanic Thompson (Alvin Clarence Thomas, if you want Titanic's actual name). Richie's hustle, when he played me, was not so much actually missing a shot, but playing poor position. His position play improved dramatically when I got him to spot me the eight. Improved enough that I could see that he was a road player and that I had no out.

You say on your website that you didn't interview Keith.

You are correct

That is correct. We didn't. He was there, and he seemed to want to be interviewed, but we never talked to him. In the first post of this thread I posed the contest as a challenge to identify the pool player in the photo whom we did NOT interview. It's a shame we missed out on Keith and Fatty.
