Come on. Think about it.

You will never get the cue or money back.

Edit: The said thing is like you said there is no humor involved if it turns into a scam (not that this original post is a scam), but I am saying that it is an opening or new way to become a scam. The humor part is just about everyone has received a Email from someone saying they want to buy your cue for a friend that likes to play with it....

first off let me say i've spoken with this gentleman and i would bet the farm that he would not only do what he says but won't let the cue leave his shop until it is right. that being said there are different degrees of what people think is a good job. i think a good job is what i would receive from Keith Josey or Pete Tascarella doing linen, leather or any refinishing . not everyone knows the ins and outs like these guys do and can be as perfect as you can be within reason but if your around cues, like i'm sure this guy has been, you get a feel for what the "collector" wants and build your process around that. i have no doubt he will do a good job but i would want to see how he deals with the fact that different materials have different thicknesses which can create a problem. when using materials such as linen, which has a consistent thickness for the most part, you can get the wrap to match the finish perfectly all the way through the wrap which is the only way i will have it hence the Tascarella/Josey reference. using animal skins is a different ball game. you have to make sure the material you use is right for cue wraps. the thickness has to be fairly constant throughout the piece and at the level to match the finish so you don't have to cut the wrap area to make it fit which we all know can affect the weight of the cue and the way it plays ( building up the wrap area is ok when using a peice that in areas is thinner if done right ). the down side to this is it can lead to allot of extra material left that you have to wait for the right cue to use it on. i was told that most of the material that has thickness variation is primarily used for case making. i've always thought about this and was given the skinny by Pete Tascarella. i also had a chat with my partner Keith and he told me the same thing so these are things to consider when having any wrap done on your prize cues. adding exotic wraps to cues is, i think, a way to make your "prize" a little more noticeable and i think has to be done right or it's a waste of time and money in your investment. after my talk with this guy i came to the conclusion that i think he will take all this in consideration when doing the work so at these prices only time and money will tell if it's a loss for us to not take advantage of this "newbee mark down" while it lasts.

Your right

Matching the wrap accross the finish without gouging the handle is crutial! I have a plainer I use to prep the leather first. Most of the time there real close already but somtimes there whey to thick. Can't cut the handle down, mabye a little but plaining the leather is the right way. My supplier is very awhere of this so he makes sure the piece sent is really close to where I need it to be. I am starting a thread to show all of my available colors of exotics that come to me. :D Thanx Aaron 815-243-1101

I was thinking about how this could turn into a scam.

Will rewrap your cue with real leather and install ivory ferrule plus new tip for $50 plus S & H. Please send cue to my friend that likes to do this. Please send Money Order in the amount of $500 to cover the actual cost of S & H. The excess will be returned with the cue.

erm sorry but what's the dig with Singapore in it?

many an AZer have done business with pple from Singapore without problems. sheesh.

if you want to put a country, put a fictional one. that way you don't insult everyone from that country.

Singapore

I totally agree with thingie. I have a lot friends from Singapore and they are all very respectful and nice people. I've been to Singapore and have met many nice people. I have dealt with two deals worth 300 dollars + with two Singaporean residents. I have had NO problems whatsoever with Singapore. I live in Hawaii.

Aaron,
Have you done anything in the black elephant ear yet that you took a pic of? I have an ebony Mike Sigel custom that I think I would like it put on, but I haven't seen real elephant ear on a cue before. Joe

what thickness is it scived to and will it fit flush to the forearm and butt? thanks bill

Do you mean Bill, what is it shaved to? If this is correct it varies a little bit but usually 40 Thous. of an inch. I will measure the depth and bring the skin there after the glue is cleaned up from the old wrap. Hope I answered your question Bill. Thanx Aaron 815-243-1101

Heres a swatch of real Elephant ear. This not a embossed piece of elephant skin. This is the real outer layer of the ear. My supplier only deals in true authentic skins. I do not own, any embossed products nor do I intend to. I believe in doing real products. Sometimes it's harder but worth it for the customer and the value of the cue in the end. Rintail Lizard...

Are the NEXT to LAST swatches of Ring tail lizard? I like the two tone effect you get with these....

How long would it take for you to do the work and get the cue back to the USPS once you receive it?
