Recommendation for a table vacuum

A 2.5 gallon / 2.5 horsepower shop vac unit is what you want for around $30-$35. The 6-inch brush attachment which you'll need to order from shopvac is what you want - will give you more than twice the suction power of the 12-inch attachment, and has far more brush on it. Go ahead and order two of them so you'll have a backup, or have one to use for each half of the table, so you're always vacuuming your cloth with a virtually clean brush. I use a hand held dishwashing stiff brush to completely clean off the brushes between usages, including wetting them down under hot water while cleaning them, so I'm always using a perfectly cleaned brush before vacuuming my tables.

Well Santa didn't bring me a new vacuum for my table this year, so I'm going to have to get one myself. I have a corded upright vacuum that I use, but it is a little inconvenient. I'm looking for a battery powered hand-held unit that is quick and easy. The problem is that the typical hand vacs have a very small nozzle and don't seem practical. Anybody here have a good recommendation?
I use the Shop Vac EZ Series, 1.5 gallon. It's nice and small. I just keep it near my pool table, under a different table that I have in the room. The attachment is a wide brush that works well with the bristles extended.

EDIT: I see that this thread was initially started in 2013. Oh well, everyone still needs a good vacuum recommendation.

I looked it up and it appears to have a rotating brush. I'd be a little concerned about the cloth. Maybe it works fine but I think I'd rather have one without the mechanical brushing.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I made the mistake of using a rotating brush vacuum - it actually raised a nap on Simonis 860 - it stayed clean but got slower and slower.

Now I use this - lightweight enough to carry comfortably with a shoulder strap; powerful enough to not need a brush (I've never worried about too much suction).

A special vac should not be necessary. A standard household vacuum is all that is necessary.

Yup. If you use the hard plastic attachment, use cloth liner.
If you use the brush attachment, you should be fine .

I use a hand held cordless Dyson DC58. It has tremendous suction and a 6" wide rotating brush. I have never had a problem. Before I spent the money to buy the Dyson, I used to throw my Kirby vacuum up on the table. I lowered it down as far as it could go and flipped on the drive assist. Again, I never had a problem.
