Red circle vs measles comparison

Here's another interesting fact... the density of my measles CB is 3% less than that of my Aramith red logo CB.

Both have a diameter of 2.251" yet the measles ball weighs just 163 g. and my red logo weighs 168 g.

I have to say, I like the measles ball, the red circle ball, the original blue circle ball, and the aramanth with the red triangle logo. What I have found, is there is a ton of fakes of all these balls in circulation. Mainly the red circle and blue circle and lately there are some measle wanna be balls being produced. I use my calipers and scale to weed out balls that do not match what I know are the real deal.

As far as the differences in playability or bounce or elasticity, I feel that is due to the surface polish and variances in weight. A new highly polished cue ball will provide more spin with less effort and certainly travel farther.

Weigh your object balls and see what they and do the bounce test.

Craig - I have.

The weights of the object balls in my Super Aramith Pro set (new one year ago) are either 168 g. or 169 g. with the exception of the 1-ball, which weighs 170 g.

And I have done the bounce test on these as well... and they bounce the same height as the following cue balls... my Aramith Red Logo (came with the set), my Red Circle (which weighs a gram less), and my Black Circle (which weighs 6 grams less than the set and is 0.020 smaller in diameter than my Red Logo)... which tells me that all of these balls were made from the same formulation of phenolic resins.

The outlier is the Measles cue ball, which does not bounce any where near the same height as the rest of the balls that I have. It's a horse of a different color. ;)

that's interesting when i tested them about1-1/2 yrs ago to an older set of centinial balls thats what most poolhalls use out here the measle cue ball was 3-5 grams heavier then the centinial balls. I wonder if a new set from this year would be the same as the measle ball now since thier all made by Aramith. I know there are alot of fake nock off cue balls around. He did give it a good test maybe try a ramp test for speed and see when they stop.

keep up th e good testing

Just by feel, no scientific or other evidence, the red circle is the most playable and I find the measles and blue circle to be similar. ..and I didn't read the rest of the posts on this thread, so if I'm repeating something or way off base, oh well.

The measles I have is both larger and heavier than any of my Blue Circles or Red Circles and it's Baby barball playability do make touch safety play a bear... I really hope Saluc addresses the issue before the open this year...
