I still haven't made up my mind to go to the tournament in Jackson this weekend. In fact, the one pocket starts tonight at 7 pm but I have a few loose ends to tie up. The 9 Ball tournament starts Saturday and I'll be darn if I stay anywhere except the RED ROOF INN.

Check out Jerry Forsythe's editorial on SPONSORS for POOL. He makes a lot of sense.

What hotel are you staying at?

I would NEVER post or state what hotel I am staying at. This could do a lot of harm to people.

Just ask Jimmy Wetch.

Good point, hadn't thought of that. There certainly are some idiots out there!!! (even some worse than me and sending pizzas)

I understand your point and its a good one to keep in mind. Everyone, should be especially aware when staying at ANY hotel/motel. People need traveling expenses and they don't care where it comes from.

With pool players, after travel expenses, hotel, food, registration fees, playing fees, green fees, oh yeah and entry fees, all that's left is a roll of quarters for the bar table. They can come and try to get that but there are far bigger and slower fish in the sea than me. Besides everyone knows I can't make a score if its put right in front of me.

With the right security plan in place you can go play pool in Nigeria without fear.

I've only had one attempted armed robbery perpetrated against me and I got lucky.

Since Jerry posted about the Red Roof discount (only a few months ago), and how it helps fund the pro players, I have stayed at Red Roof Inns, in several states, about 22 times...and plan to continue. Red Roof Inns are not as prolific as their sister company, Motel 6, but if they are available, anywhere I travel, I try to stay there (like every chain, some are nice/remodeled, and some are not-so-nice/dated/dirty). I'm doing my part! How about the rest of you?

As far as playing in Nigeria goes...I'LL PASS! You go ahead JoeyA!

And do not, for the love of God, let Charlie Williams get the extra room key.

Although you may get a sweet discount on an entry fee or two.

I'm doing my part. I also use Red Roof whenever possible and I have used that discount alot recently. But alot of people don't know about the code and just get whatever room that is closest to their destination. We all as a whole on this forum need to do our part and let our friends know that this deal is out there and it benefits a sport that we love.

602763 is the code

Ask around and the story of what happened to J.W. can be told to you.

I had a girl that worked for me, who's father was in Oklahoma working for General Motors. He and a few work buddies were hanging out in the hotel bar, playing pool. He walked back to his room, got jumped by two dudes, they stole his money and beat him so bad it put him in a coma. He lost vision out of one of his eyes. Had to learn to walk again.

Found out the waitress in the bar tipped the two guys off that he had enough money in his pocket to warrant this beating.

All I am saying is that you can never be too careful. Someone might think that JoeyA from the internet pool forums is a high paid announcer and should have a pocketful as well. Unfortunately, they wouldn't know what little you had in that roll of quarters until afterwards - and that might make them even more upset.

Well, you and I have both told them.

You're right about never being too careful.

We've got our share of desperados here in the Big Easy but I like to expect the best and prepare for the worst.
