Dear Fellow Members,

I have to relist this cue due to a dead bidder skhartke:mad: From ebay. item number 140059757165 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...E:B:AAQ:US:1&viewitem=&item=140059757165&rd=1, he tried to Scammed me.
And he nearly got it. First, He paid with Paypal, (unverified) then push me to ship quickly for his customer in Japan. Two days later, he file for unauthorise Payment from Paypal. Paypal hold the funds and investigate this issuse. By then the item have reach Japan. I have shipped with EMS with Tracking number ER004241007SG.
http://www.speedpost.com.sg/speedpost_services_track_result.asp?type=3&frmFlag=

WoW, Lady Luck fall on my side cause I have a Japanese friend, so I quickly call him and he manage to stop the item and have them to ship back to me.....Well, Please check with the tracking number, you will see how close it was.:p My friend told me the addresee address is just only 10 min to the post office....:o :o

This guy also make a chargeback from my Paypal Account. Not only the funds that he paid earlier have revised backto his account by Paypal, my account is being left with USD$2+++ negative.... Did not understand how or why, I did'nt have a chance to dispute with Paypal either.   All they ask for is the shipping Info. Anyway..I have already send them more infor what is going on, and I belive it take a little time to slove this issuse. Well, I have learnt this lesson the hard way. I will like to remind to all the pool lovers here, Please be extremly carefull out there, let the funds clear first, into your bank account, then ship the item.
You will never know what will happen.

This Guy thought that I did'nt know thinking this is a Scam, he tried bluffing me with how he would pay said how sorry he was.. try to ask for more time to get the cue deliverd....Just two days back, I ask him a simple question, ARE YOU A SCAMMER...?? From then I never recevied any e-mail from him again.

To those who have this encounter, please share you thoughts, and advice....Helping this world to be better place... Keeping us safe from using ebay and Paypal.

Kenneth,

Wow, I was just about to send you an email to see how this was working out. I'm glad to hear you got the cue back.

I have blocked that guy from my auctions, and others here might want to do the same.

Glad to hear things are working out!

Mike...

you really should do a search for ebay scams on this board as this whole ship to japan thing is a common scam they run. it's why a lot of people won't sell cues to overseas customers.

these scammers are taking advantage of paypal's policy of the customer always being right. paypal, in a lot of ways, does suck. my understanding that in a dispute the customer only has to show they shipped something back, even if it's an empty box, and paypal will take thier side

Totally unrelated to billiards I shipped a RC car after waiting 2 days for the paypal to clear into my bank. Over a month later paypal put my account into the negative and the customer I shipped to closed his bank account. I told paypal that this happened over a month prior and since it cleared my bank there is no way this should happen. I was told that I would have to provide a tracking number to prove the product shipped.

Well after a month I tossed it so I was SOL. By the grace of luck my wife had emailed me the tracking number when she shipped it and I got paypal to refund my account back to zero. I got pretty upset that after well over a month this was possible. I told her "well how long do you expect me to sit on the funds before shipping a product and knowing my money was safe". They told me that as long as I have a tracking number I'm safe. I then asked well how long should I keep the tracking number. She said I need to keep that number for 7 months. Effing rediculous.

Some people have learned not to accept Paypal. When I was selling several high end cues during the last year, I got hit with similar scam attempts. I was wary and contacted my friend Tate who warned me not to ship to Japan, even though almost $5,000 had come to me thru Paypal. They were trying to buy three cues I had on eBay in a package deal.

The buyer was listed as from Pennsylvania. That made me suspicious. He said he was sending them to a friend in Japan to resell. If I had shipped them, I would have been s.o.l. also. Same thing with a German buyer, who went thru Paypal trying to "buy it now" on an expensive Scruggs. He wanted me to ship quick and sent me $75 extra for fast shipping. BOGUS!

Last one was when I listed my 1998 Chevy Blazer, with very low miles (50K), with a "buy it now" of $7,500. Some guy from Arizona mailed me a cashiers check for the full amount and told me his friend was in town to pick up the car for him. He wanted me to give him the car the day the check arrived. I went to my bank with this pretty looking cashiers check drawn on an Arizona bank. My banker called the bank and found it was a bogus check.

I really wanted to set up his friend and invite him over to my house to get the car. I had evil thoughts in my mind, and a .38 in my safe. I wanted to make a citizen's arrest, and hold him at gunpoint. But I thought better of it and let it go. I decided I didn't need to explain why I shot the guy if he tried to run or attack me. I was so mad I might have done it. And what a hassle I would have created for myself.

I still have the bad check in my files. And it looks perfect!

If indeed many of these scammed cues are being sent to Japan, that would mean that somebody here is obviously involved. If anybody has any trouble with something like this in the future, please feel free to give me a heads up so I can keep my eyes open. The high end cue market here in Japan is a very 'local' world, where if a scammer were trying to move a cue that he'd scammed from an Ebayer, there aren't many options to move the cue underground. It would most likely be sold via the Japanese version of Yahoo Auctions, or traded in towards another cue at a dealer. They get away with this kind of stuff because the average Japanese cue consumer is probably not aware of the possibility of the cue in question being 'hot.'
Now Japan has it's very own AZB Stolen/Scammed Cues Patrol Rep!!!!

This is what paypal reply to me ......

We regret that you have had this experience. We received notification
that the funds in question used for this transaction were possibly
fraudulent. We did an investigation and it was determined that the
funds, indeed, were fraudulent. As such, we had to return the funds to
the party that had them taken from them without their authorization.
You are not protected from this reversal of funds under our Seller
Protection Policy, as this transaction was not listed as eligible. I do
regret any frustration that this may cause.

And.....

Thank you for contacting PayPal. We regret the delay in responding to
your service request.

When you receive funds through PayPal, if the sender's transaction is
reversed for any reason and you do not qualify for the Seller Protection
Policy for that transaction, you will owe PayPal for the amount of the
reversed transaction plus any fees imposed on PayPal as a result of the
reversal. You agree to reimburse PayPal from either your PayPal account
or by other means as described in the Payments (Sending, Receiving, and
Withdrawing) Policy of our User Agreement.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again

Can Anyone help Here... I am loosing my mind already.....

I swear, the people working for paypal are straight stupid. I wish I knew how to help you but I dont, I wish you the best of luck.. nobody deserves this.

It appears as if Paypal was set up by scamers to be a scam because they are the scamers that are ripping off everyone. Think about it. A bid is placed by low lifer working as a agent for Paypal. They naturally win. Send out the "funds". Paypal pays off after getting their fee. Check bounces, funds are reversed. Paypal says tough takes money out of your account because you did not qualify under the buyer protection plan. Now they have your money and merchandise.

To the seller ..

I'd be worried about your highest bidder (slyboots0529) at the moment. See link below for recent purchase history. Either the person is fairly well off or has no intention of completing the transaction.

Someone like me willl pass on the auction when seeing a bidder like above muddies the water.

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...slyboots0529&completed=1&all=1&rows=25&sort=3

Thanks Jazz,

I have remove the bidder and block it, I will monitor from now to the end.
Thanks again for pointing out....

My Paypal is ready.... Only to Verified members with verified address, no exception.
