Remembering Lamar

I am truluy shocked to hear this sad news, me and Pete P. was talking about Lamar tonight at a little weekly tournament. Lamar told me and Pete some time back he was going to come play in the tournament. I didn't know Lamars family, but I would like to say that he had a lot of friends that will miss him very much. I am really sorry to hear about this. We had talked a little on this message board and he was a really nice guy. My condolences to his family and friends.

As far as I'm concerned, the forum lost one of its role models. Lamar was not just a benefactor of our sport, but a true gentleman. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace.

:( :( :(
We lost one of the good guys. He was always full of kind words and a friendly smile. We'll keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. We'll miss you Lamar.

I still have a hard time accepting that he's passed. I remember watching come in every Saturday, order a coke and soaking in the tournament scene. He was a quiet but well spoken man that has graciously gifted me with the abundant amount of knowledge in this hectic pool community. My heart goes out to him and his family. I hope they pull through this time of hardship. He was truly a humble and honest man.

Well Lamar was as honest and friendly as they come in the pool world. I met him when I first starting playing pool and we turned out to be good friends for about 5 years. He always used to say how I was short and skinny (when we first met), then I was tall and a little big, and then I was tall and skinny a few years later lol. I've went to numerous pool halls with him through the years and I had a blast everytime. I'll never forget matching up with one of his favorite players Tracie Hines lol. He told me she needed weight and then he laughed. He was always in great spirit everytime you saw the man. I don't know his family but my prayers and wishes are with them. I will be at the funeral tomorrow to show the man that taught me so much and always helped me out when I needed it, my respect.

I was in Pennsylvania at the Super Billiards Expo when my wife called me to let me know Lamar had passed away. It was a real sad phone call for me. He was such a nice guy and helped so many in the pool world. He will be missed by all who knew him. I always looked forward to sitting and talking to him when I would go to a tournament. We need to treasure all our true friendships as we do not know how long we have to enjoy them.
I pray God will bless the family Lamar left behind and be a comfort to them.

Everytime I will go to the IPT website and see the link for "archive" on their homepage I will think of Lamar. In late February he was asking about results in the qualifiers and I told him how he could find them on the IPT site. He commented that they should have an archive link. Deno told me that they did have one but it was on another link and after Lamar's comment he had it moved to the home page.

I never met Lamar but he sure did seem friendly.

And, thankfully, I have run across quite a few Lamars in the pool world.
