Remove e-mail address IMMEDIATELY!!!

Paypal is using your e-mail addresses to find and suspend your Paypal account when you run a raffle.
Read more about what is going on here, and thank you to those contributing to the thread.

If you are currently running a raffle, or have ever offered one, remove your e-mail address immediately to avoid account suspension!!!
I don't wish to distract from the other thread, but wanted to get the word out asap to those who may not be aware of what is going on.

At least temporarily, I suggest asking for PMs for your Paypal address, and denying requests from those with less than 100 or 200 posts on the forum. This should keep things going for a while, at least until another method of quick payment can be secured. Google checkout has been suggested, but I have never used it and cannot comment on it.

Here's another tip. Don't link your Paypal account to your primary checking account. Frequently, Paypal will lock up your bank account as well as your Paypal account if a buyer makes any kind of stink, either real or contrived. If that happens, your primary checking account can be locked up for a month while they investigate. Open a separate bank account for linking to Paypal, and transfer funds received out of that account as soon as they are received to protect yourself.

I can help a bit here...

For those who wish to send payment and pm to request for e-mail, please make sure the person that requesting don't pm you with the title with "Raffles" as they may stab you and send your reply to pp. Hope my words give everyone a caution.

Cheers,
Yuen

I don't think that just because someone has under 100 posts that they should be excluded. I have had several transactions on azb, including ones in this section. I think iTrader should be looked at too. Just my opinion

I do understand where you are coming from and think that you made many great points and suggestions. I always love seeing the AZ community coming up with new ideas.

whos the idiot that was just banned from the wanted for sale section recently for the upteenth time? after he changed his user id again? i bet its this idiot that started this!! glad you guys are takin my advice about removin the email adress as hoppe said, also remember never use the word raffle in anything associated with paypal and ya got a chance, as far as multiple items and payments, people sell small items all the time on ebay so that wouldnt rais any flags i dont think!!! more than one way to skin a cat, !

and also as hoppe said about the seperate account............just get a debit card for that account and use that as your credit card back up source......that way your safe and if something happens they are making a complete circle for funds as well, ONLY USE THAT ACCOUNT FOR PAYPAL AND NEVER LEAVE A DIME IN IT!!!!

THINK THERE IS A SITE STILL IF YA WANT TO SCARE YOURSELF TO DEATH ABOUT PAYPAL www.paypalsucks.com i think!

The post count requirement is just to make sure that some yahoo from Paypal doesn't acquire an account here and simply request your e-mail address used for Paypal transactions. If they have to post here 100 or 200 times, it's probably not worth their while. But you're right, iTrader could also be taken into account at the raffler's discression.
Mr H

why not remove all the threads whose raffles are done and people have received their cues.

We don't have the ability to remove entire threads here, but we certainly can remove our own posts in those threads. I have done some house cleaning myself. ;)

No, I doubt they would comment that many times. I guess us people under 100 will just have to post more often in case our iTrader isn't looked at. I am only saying this so I can get to 64! ;)

are they just going after those who are running a raffle or anyone who has participated also?

I have been on e-bay for ten years and have 100% feedback rating and bought and sold hundreds of items under various handles. why would you say that I'm not qualified to play ?I may be new to the forum but you have no right to put limitations on me !

You know that you can do something on PP called a money request. So when you want to run a raffle have everyone email you to an email address that is NOT tied to paypal. Then from your paypal account make a money request for each person in the raffle.

OR just setup a "Donation" button somewhere. Make a webpage - ask for donations and set up the amounts. Paypal has buttons for that.

Of course the workarounds are convoluted but remember that men programmed PayPal's system and men can figure out a way around it.

Right now some dipshit loser who couldn't make it here is probably doing the detective work and reporting everyone to paypal, it's doubtful that PP is doing the work. So tighten up your own security and make it so that it's too much of a hassle to keep it up.

One post closer...

I don't think anyone is putting limitations on you. It was just one person's opinion on something to do to be safe. I am sure there are some who will agree and follow this and others who will take it into consideration but may take the chance. Yeah, there are gamblers on here from time to time.;)
I have been on eBay since 1998, with the same handle, and sold and bought my share of things. Of course, nobody on here knows that about me other than me just saying it. There are a couple people on here who know me personally, but most do not. The rest who have been on here for years, don't know if I am a pool player, or a PayPal spy. Hopefully if they look back through all my posts and iTrader history, they can see that I have interacted some and know a thing or two about pool, and have made some purchases, a trade, and given and asked for advice from time to time.
So its nothing personal. Just everyone is on guard now because one person is trying to ruin it for everyone.

I think the if the raffler and winner send a pm each to Mr Wilson stating the satisfaction of their transaction, post which Mr Wilson can delete the thread.

Im not sure what is going on here with the Paypal accounts, but I have some possible scenario. It is pretty easy to figure out as we have been using paypal since the first day they opened and have been eBay commerce members since creation as well. Someone here has most likely done a chargeback through paypal for their raffle tickets. Either someone was unhappy with a raffle or just wanted their money back due to waiting for it to become completely filled. Therefore Paypal was put in the position of investigating the matter. Those who have gotten account suspensions should probably search their raffle list. I am sure the person who innitiated the claim is in that raffle because other claims would be completely ignored. Paypal doesnt give a crap about people turning in other people, but will work quickly on claims. We have had credit card chargebacks before and know the system very well. We have never had any problems with account suspensions as well. HERE IS THE WAY AROUND IT. When you list your payment type, list it as a SERVICE. List the service as some small thing such as Picture created in the notes. Everyone here should not be running scared about paypal.
