I had to make a very tough decision pertaining to Reno, and I elected to stay home due to business reasons. I'm in the same boat as the rest of you and will have to read all updates on the forums. However, I do have one lifeline with my horse, who'd better keep me up to date when applicable! :p

The players meeting went forth, and I received a call after it was over. The tournament in England has been canceled. So it is official. I don't know all the details about why, just that it isn't going to go forth.

Keith plays on Monday. Whereas, the other rounds begin tomorrow!

Thanks Jam, we all will miss your excellent reporting.(omg what will I do without having Jams reports to read every 20 minutes)
Man oh man what a tough thing for you to stay home on this one. But then again I know there will be many events for you to watch Keith in over the next few IPT years.. Just think all of us will all be sweating Keiths matches in Virginia.

On a side note there was a great turn out for folks to remember Bill Elliot at Champions tonight. We didn't get to stay long but it was pretty packed when we left.

Thanks for the updates Jennie. You are without doubt the saviour of the pool junkie!

I'm sorry to hear about the cancellation of the London IPT event. Keep us posted on any developments - ie. re-scheduling, re-location etc...

I must admit, it was a tough call, me not going to Reno. Work is my ball and chain, and I always must "Save Tara." :o

I'm hoping Colin, Linda, and others will post up some happenings. At the last two IPT events, they set up six computers, with a printer, and called it Cyber Cafe, with access granted to all attendees. That was pretty sweet! :D

You know, I was going to go, beginning at 7:00 p.m tonight. My electricity was out for almost a day, due to Ernesto remnants, and then I had to take my dog to the emergency vet this afternoon, something I wasn't planning on. I am so very happy to hear there was a good turnount at Bill Elliott's memorial. His untimely passing makes me realize how each day on this earth is a gift. I will miss seeing Bill at the tournaments.

Ernesto remnants wreaked a little havoc last night in my neck of the woods. My day began waking up this morning with no power and no way to make coffee. I made a beeline for my neighborhood Starbucks. Just another day in paradise! :p

I hope we will get some updates about the matches tomorrow. There's a couple of matches I have my eye on! :p

Right now, all the players are up there in the tournament room practicing. Keith said most of the tables were five-deep!

I know there will be many disappointed that London did not go forth. I even ordered Keith's passport last week and put an expedite on it, taking no chances on any Federal bureacratic red tape, customary here in the States. :o

When I booked Keith's airfare for Reno, there were some "special instructions" for anyone flying to England from American soil. That didn't sit very well with me, but, of course, I don't like flying. We are land animals. If God wanted us to fly, he'd have made us have wings, IMHO. I did look into a cruise ship to London from D.C., 5 days each way! :D

More snippets

I read on the IPT website that Vonage has just signed on as a blue-chip sponsor for the World Open in Reno, commiting to a long-term relationship with the IPT!

AND I was also told that at the players meeting, a guy name Danny Ho or Jimmy Ho or Bobby Ho was mentioned -- a significant overseas entity -- who has also committed to a long-term relationship with the IPT for, I think, 5 years. I hope somebody else elaborates who knows more, as I don't know who the Ho man is, but whoever he is, it's supposed to be very good for the health of the IPT. :)

One observation, the last tournament in Vegas had six players begin the first round. This tournament in Reno, there will be five players first round, but six players second round. I'm curious as to the logistics on the change, but think it may be for better match scheduling.

Thanks again, Jen.

I'm one of the dissapointed ones, especially as I'd hoped to meet yourself and Keith in London. Ach well, there's always next time.

What are the matches you're interested in? (Apart from Keith, of course!)

Personally, I'm gunning for the Scots (no surprise there then!). Plural - this time. I'm lucky to have two good mates in Reno - Pat Holtz & Jayson Shaw.

Pat's got a tough first match against Shannon Daulton at 10:00 on Monday and ma wee mate Jayson has an equally difficult IPT debut against AZ regular, Colin Colenso, also at 10:00am Mon.

Can't wait!!!!

Jam do you have first hand information as to why Luat's name is included in Group 18 for the Reno Open? Was he added in the last minute?

They had fourty groups of five in the first round in Vegas. It sounds like the same as Reno.

Looks like he has replaced Ronnie O Sullivan

I know. This is so exciting. I am anxious to hear how Jayson plays too. I am looking forward to the pictures on the IPT website.

I'm interested in so many matches, it's hard to name them all. In particular, I, of course, am pulling for my American comrades, and nothing would please me more than to see an American kick some butt this coming week.

Last tournament in Vegas, several players mentioned that they came unprepared due to not practicing on the IPT equipment. Luc Salvas, as an example, from Canada bought a Diamond table and it has been delivered to his home. I am wondering if it will make a different in his performance.

I think this tournament title is still up for grabs, but whoever gets it will have earned it.

I am sure the overseas events will resume sine die. We Americans are lucky to have several of the IPT tournaments on our soil, but I have a strong feeling that this is going to change. There will be MANY events not only in Europe and England, but in Asia as well.

Does anybody know how long passports are good for? Just curious!
