I posted this in the tourney section too, but who ever looks there? So who is going to be attending this year? I think my mom is staking me:D It is always a good time.

My buddy, Cuetip2, will be playing in Senior Division (if they have one) ... and I just might jump in, too ... It's a good little Tournament, but last year was a total disaster for Spectators, as there was nowhere near enough seating ... Spectators were sitting in Player's Chairs until the TD came around to run them out ... Then, back they came as soon as he was out of sight ... It SUCKED, plain & simple ...

You're right about the seating, they need to figure something out that works better for spectating. I would never say that tournament sucks though. So many champions are there, and with the alternate break format you get a chance to beat them! I have always been a little biased towards this tournament as I am from Lake Tahoe, and get to visit the family every time I am out there.

Have they ever had a Senior Division there? I always thought it was just a 9-ball open and an 8-ball open. Not counting the little league event they usually have in the practice room.

Reno bar table is lots of fun

your right there is no senior div. i would be a super senior, like i am at the bca nationals. this is a great tourny, lots of top notch players, even a few pros. it pays pretty well so they come. seating was poor last year, but a lot of people *****ed about it as they should. its free to watch, even so you should have seating. got to keep folks comming. this year it will be 8ball,9 and 10 ball. all the info. is on the bca webb site. its a open tourny, so chaulk up and come out.

Reno bar table seating

Unfortunately there is limited space at the Reno Sands. They do provide the venue, added money and cheap rooms. There is no entry to watch.

We can only get in 32 tables which does leave it pretty tight for seating. Ric Jones (who sets up and runs the event) is aware of the situation and will do everything that can be done.

But - with limited space - only so much can be done. I wish some of the comments made would admit that sometimes there are not any good choices.

to allow the best seating available, probably 5-6 tables less would have to be used - and that is NOT possible.

This year it is 10-ball/9-ball/8-ball. Thre is all around champs (men & women) awith the added money totalling $24,500.

Flyer and entry forms are avialable at www.playbca.com. You do not have to be a BCA Pool League member to play. BCAPL is the promoter of the event.

Hope to see you there. (Don't forget about the 12th Jay Swanson event in LA on feb 9-10th. - info at www.playbca.com)

You are correct ... I should not have been so quick to judge without knowing all the facts ... I really enjoy this Tournament (because of 8-Ball, and now 10-Ball) and plan to compete in 2009 if my Cataract Surgery goes as planned ... As for the seating problem, I will just have to put on my meanest, grumpy-old-man face and carry a Cane ... Maybe some nice young man will give me his seat (fat chance) ... I'll be there one way or the other as long as I have a good supply of Pain Meds. ...
Thank You and the Sands Regency for putting on this Tournament ... We need a lot more of them in Northern California / Northern Nevada ...

Thanks! Rep to you Tom. My blood was heating up when I saw the twenty something thousand added. Now, I see that it is probably split up amongst the three disciplines. I'll check out the flyer in a minute.
I like the march 1-2, it being a weekend.....Eight ball can be a fun game when you are playing it well.

Maybe I missed it but are there any GREEN FEES or COINS required to play the games?

Mark, the Reno Open used to use two rooms: the large room which held 10 tables, and the smaller one which held 6. The large room had bleachers along one side. I'm wondering if they use both rooms for the bar box tournament? If not, they could put some of the BBs in the smaller room, which would allow for seating in the large room. If they're already using both rooms, well then...

I don't remember any greens fees, but it is one dollar per rack. They have a coin machine adjacent to the tournament room. It is alternate break so you usually just pay on your breaks. I kind of understand why they charge the dollars. It isn't cheap setting up all those tables, and it makes a lot more hill-hill matches:D

Hey Doc! They have something like 24 tables in the main room and another 8 or so in the back room. No room for the bleachers. Are you going to make it to Grady's tournament in February?

I doubt it, Eric. It's too soon after the Holidays to take more time off. I'd love to play the 1P tourny, but I'll have to wait for the next one. Give 'em hell, bro!
