Wow. A&K Fisher have beat the best women in the world. It's good to see players from the US come out on top even though they are originally from the UK. We taught them well in the US :p. Thank you for the update. Johnnyt

Go Fishers. Incidentally Kelly got her revenge on Si Ming Chen with a 9:4 drubbing.

Come one Kelly! Love ya Allie but I gotta pull for Kel in this one.

Li He Wen looks like an accountant. He is easily the most normal looking world class player you could ever see.

He looked like an ass at the pool hall. I seen him in a few money games in China....that guy is arrogant.

i am in beijing and it is interesting to note that the local sports channel had live coverage from 2:30pm until 9:30 pm last night.........7 hours of coverage! awesome! the "duchess of doom" was a little off her game but she brought it home! .......7 hours dude!

I think it's great the Allison and Kelly were able to defeat the top Chinese women and reach the finals. Tells me they've elevated their games, out of necessity! Kind of like when Efren first came here and showed up all the American players. Within a year, everyone was playing better.

I don't know about that. Allison and Kelly haven't really changed their games. What they have realized though is that there are no easy matches here where the girls give away games because they are in fear. So each and every set is a fight and they realize that they must give 100% focus to the matches and really fight for every ball.

Also they have started to get more in touch with the tables here. Most of the time the cloth is stretched so tightly that it's like playing on ice. The Chinese players are used to it but the foreigners are not. Kelly told me that the last couple tournaments the cloth has played closer to what they are used to and they have not had to confront cue ball movement that is hard to predict.

When Kelly gets rolling she can flat play and she plays in a much more freewheeling style than the Chinese players. The downside to that is that sometimes Kelly doesn't slow down a little and think through the best path or best option for a shot and consequently she will make mistakes that are surprising.

Kelly has beaten the ghost 10-0 playing 10 ball. She has nothing about her physical game that needs to be improved to beat the Chinese players but instead needs to work on her mental game to stay strong throughout the tournament. In this finals she lost because she gave Allison too many games and Allison took them and added her own good steady play on top of it.

We shouldn't forget that Allison won the World Championships against Asian women something like four times. Karen Corr has had two second place finishes. Kelly was second to Si Ming Chen last year at the world ten ball championships in a set filled with mistakes on Kelly's part coupled with a few very fortunate rolls on Si Ming's part.

It's just me but if Kelly were ever to get into a TAR-style race to 100 with any Chinese player my money will be on Kelly.

Thanks for your thoughts John. IMO Si Meng Chen is the best female pool player I've ever seen. Simply put, she plays at a higher level than any woman I've seen previously, including all the above mentioned champions. Whether this will equate to multiple world championships and a long career like Allison has had is still a matter for conjecture, and for history to provide one way or the other. As for me I just hope to see her play again as often as possible. I enjoy watching pool played well by anybody, be they man or woman.

P.S. If Si Meng ever plays ANY woman a long race in a challenge match, I'll gladly bet on her. Thanks in advance for the action.

My pleasure. How about this for a bet? I will take Kelly against Si Ming Chen, Liu Sha Sha, Xiao Ting Pan, or any other Chinese female player in all events for the rest of the year. I will bet $100 per match where she plays a Chinese player.

Just keep track and tell me how much I owe you when New Year's Eve rolls around. :-)

If you don't want that action then it's open to anyone else after you decline.

2011 china open

Help-

I went to find some info on this. I found info on 147.com.

Seems it is not WPA event. Payouts all in rmb (china money).

If I read right, first place almost $8,000 us.
Total payout about 25-30,000 US. (for each gender).

Am I looking at this properly?

The 2011 World Open was held by CBSA (China Billiards and Snooker Association) and not a WPA event this year. But it will be a WPA-sanctioned ranking tournament next year.

Prize of men's champion is ¥50,000 RMB (approximately US$7,900), and prize of women's champion is the same.

Sorry, I'm out of town or could have told you this personally. This is not a WPA ranking event or official World event. It is a Chinese local tour that has just formed under CSBA? (can't remember the official name but it's like Chinese Snooker & Billiard Association or some sort)

It has 16 or so top player (mostly local) invited and several qualifiers are ran to fill the brackets. I know of this tour because I was approached by one of the tour coordinator to translate it for certain Korean Super Star ;)

There should be another one of this event scheduled for early December.

Now, having said that, I am not taking away any accomplishment from A & K Fishers. Indeed they have commandingly beat the top world champions in their home turf.

I am aware both Fishers' been spending more time in China with exhibitions and different tournaments. I think it was just matter of them getting acquainted & getting used to their equipments and customs in order to bring out their true game.

Thanks again John, I think I only mentioned ONE Chinese player, Si Meng Chen, that I was willing to bet on against ANYONE! How about this I will bet on her in every match she plays against any American player the rest of the year, and next year too. We can settle up at the end of the year. I'll fully understand if you don't want that action Mr. L. Smith.

That's why they call you Triple Smart Jay. :-) How about we just bet any time Si Ming and Kelly face each other for 2011/2012?

Make it $100 per match and settle up in December.
