Game: 10-Ball ghost - weak handed
Equipment: 9-foot, 6-yr old simoniz 860, 4" pockets all around, dirty, wet, hot, no air (garage)

Tue: 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5
Wed: 1-5
Thu: 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5
Fri: 1-5, 1-5, 0-5, 1-5 (wiped table and cleaned balls by hand after session)

Just thought I would post some practice sessions results to inspire Dr. Cue's Protege, and maybe others. I haven't been playing due to severe shoulder problems in my shooting arm. So I switched, but it still hurts! Wish me luck. Keep watching, Protege and see if I stay on a pattern.

I say I play 12-ball ghost speed, even wrong handed (when in dead punch). But notice the horrible scores, Protege, with ball in hand even! Do you think I'll make it up that high?

I'll go the other way...finally...lol. 9 foot Olhausen, average pockets, 860 Simonis (1 year old).

I am an average player.... I play Olympic 9 ball and the ghost at the same time for practice (race to 5). Olympic 9 ball is breaking, taking ball in hand and counting the number of balls before you miss and adding them up for 10 racks.

I am generally a 40's to 50's player in Olympic 9 ball and very, very rarely beat the ghost. I hit the 60's now and then but not consistently.

The other night I played and experienced the following:

I started off with a 5 followed by a break and run (if I have position on the first shot I don't take ball in hand). This was followed by a 5 and a 9. I then had ran 8 (missed a stupid 9). Therefore, after 5 racks I was at 36, which I considered a great score for being at mid point. However, I was down 2 - 3 against the Ghost part of it.

I must admit I have done this before and it is generally followed by a very low score in the next 5 racks.

However, in the 6th rack I scored a 7, which put me at a major disadvantage against the ghost, but I was looking at the score now.

I then ran out the next 4 racks, beating the ghost 5 - 4 and achieving my highest score of 79.

I have not tried this again due to time, but I am positive that my next try will not be close to this...

The upshot to your injury.

What a great opportunity to REALLLY learn to play wrong handed.

Sat 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 2-5
Sun 0-5, 2-5
Mon 0-5, 2-5, 1-5

It's so sticky hear I had to take a break after the first two sets saturday and board up an open wall section and blow in a little ac, even though I don't have enough available to actually cool the garage. Where are you DCP? Are you playing along?

Then, I too, am positive that your next try will not be close to that.

(Hint: Try "positive" thinking.)

Good shooting. That's the hard part, staying fired up to do it again the same or better. I can play every day if my shoulder allows, so I'm trying to work up to a maintainable level.

Damn!! I couldn't imagine running a 9 ball rack weak handed, let alone 3, 10 ball racks in one evening. I gotta start practicing again.. I'm starting to feel like a schlep.

Should have seen Buddy play left handed in his day. Impressive.
Seigal also played right handed impressively. Mike is right handed. Pool is the only thing he does left handed.

I've seen some guys play pretty well both handed. I lack that talent.. LOL

In rereading unknownpro's post that's pretty amazing. 4 inch pockets? I have 4 1/4's on mine and it's tighter then a virgin the week before prom. Point in fact even strong players seem to struggle to run racks on my table?

Took a week off because of shoulder problem. Feeling better and played some yesterday and today.

Mon Sept 18, 1-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 5-3

Tue Sept 19 (11-ball) 0-5
(10-ball) 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5

Can't seem to slow down enough cause it should be easier today, it's dry now and was wet yesterday. Gonna try some more in a little while. I tend to speed up when I feel better and do better and shoot like it's very easy because 10-ball needs to be easy for me to get up to 12-ball or higher. Obviously it's not working very well so far today, lol. Maybe I should just play once a week?

unknownpro

Tue continued
(10-ball) 2-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5 break
0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 2-5 quit and popped shoulder back in place, ouch.

UnknownPro, sorry to hear about your shoulder, that sucks big time and will certainly put a damper on your game. :(

If you ever get a chance to film one of these sessions I'd love to see it! Hell I'll even edit it up for you and put it online if you send me the tape.

Bro, out of curiosity, how do you do with your right hand?

I used to win a 10-ahead set of 10-ball ghost every day on double shimmed tables. I've run 72 balls in straight pool and 6 straight racks of 12-ball ghost on this table, but that was with both hands alternating. It takes a while to get in stroke this way..., or any way for that matter. This is a very brutal table, it breaks down my weak side when it's alone out there, lol! That, and my stance is constantly changing to accomodate my shoulder.

Well, I truly hope one day I can be your standard.
I do have my ON days, where I play really well, but I have zero consistency over a week long period.

Wed Sept 20

(10-ball) 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5 break
0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5 break
0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 1-5 break
0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 1-5, 0-5, 1-5

You played 33 sets in one day?

Doesn't everybody? lol! It doesn't take long if you don't make many balls!

Thur Sept 21 (10-ball) 0-5, 1-5, 0-5 1-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-5, 1-5 break
0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 2-5, 1-5, 0-5, 0-5, 2-5 break
(11-ball) 0-5, 2-5 (10-ball) 0-5, 1-5

My doctor told me to stop running because it was hard on my shoulder. So I need the exercise to sleep. Of course he told me to quit playing pool too... but what does he know? I'm one-stroking everything to stay loose and try to keep moving. It's sort of a combined pool match aerobic session. If I can just quit looking at the contact point and look where my stick is going I should get a lot more consistent very quickly. It takes me a couple of solid weeks of playing to quit looking at that damned object ball all the time.
