Are these a lot more complex than just a cue with inlays in the butt sleeve? I've talked to 5 seasoned cuemakers in the past couple of weeks and they have all leaned away from reverse points, saying they don't really like the look or they don't have the equipment to execute the points. It just seems strange that they almost all say the same thing... Anyone have any inside info on this?

He means in the buttsleeve.
They are not terribly difficult to make if you can cut points into a forearm. PM me if you want a buttsleeve made for your cue, or a cue made.

Here's some pics of 8-pointers with matching butt sleeves. The trick is to get the sleeve to look proportionate to the forearm, mirrored but downsized & compressed. I don't have a problem doing it, but that's because I made a jig specifically for the task. Even still, it's a whole lot more work than doing points on a forearm. It doesn't surprise me that some builders refuse to do it. In order to do it correctly and make it look right, they'd have to make significant changes to their point jig, or else set up a new one specific to the task. For a one or two time use, it's simply not feasible to do so. The only reason I have a jig for it is because I also use it for my scallops, just a different cutter. If not for that, I would refuse to do it as well.
